Team History

A Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion club founded in February 2008, Philadelphia Union stats began its first season in 2010 and plays out of the 18,500-seat Subaru Park, constructed along the waterfront of the Delaware River in Chester, Pennsylvania. The team is owned by Keystone Sports & Entertainment and NBA player Kevin Durant is a minority owner.

Like most expansion clubs, Philadelphia Union betting had a relatively rocky first few years in the league, but has been one of the most consistent clubs in the MLS standings as of late. Since then, Philadelphia Union has finished as runners-up in the US Open Cup three times and won the Supporters’ Shield as the first place team in the MLS standings in 2020.

Philadelphia Union launched a reserve team, Union II, in 2015. The club originally played in the United Soccer League, but joined the newly-created MLS Next Pro in 2022. It also has several academy teams that participate in MLS Next.

Philadelphia’s main rival is D.C. United. It also shares rivalries with the New York Red Bulls, New York City FC, and Seattle Sounders FC.
