The Dallas Mavericks (15-16) and Utah Jazz (22-9) battle on Christmas Day at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 P.M. EST.
The Mavericks have labored to a record below .500 so far during the 2021-2022 campaign. They have gone just 4-6 over their previous ten games, including a loss last time out against the Bucks.
Utah has been one of the most productive teams in the NBA this year. The Jazz has gone 8-2 in their past ten contests and has won two games in a row.
Dallas will try and right the ship against this red-hot Utah Jazz squad on Saturday night.
Mavericks at Jazz Stats
Looking at the Dallas Mavericks stats
The Dallas Mavericks will remain without Luka Donic this weekend after Doncic was entered into the league health and safety protocols. Kristaps Porzingis is also listed as questionable due to injury. If Dallas ends up having to play without both of their stars, it could be a long night in Utah for the Mavericks.
However, they were without both players against Milwaukee and posted a solid effort. Jalen Brunson led Dallas with 19 points and eight assists, while every player in the starting lineup posted at least 10 points. But the Mavs still fell short despite the respectable team effort.
Brunson will be tasked with being the lead attacker and playmaker once again if Porzingis is ruled out for this game.
Dallas has been abysmal as a team in nearly every team offensive category. They rank just 27th in points per game, 25th in rebounds per game, 23rd in field goal percentage, and 26th in three-point percentage. But the Mavericks do lead the NBA in limiting turnovers with only 11.4 per contest.
Nonetheless, developing the necessary offensive chemistry and consistency will be difficult to do until Doncic is back on the floor.
Looking at the Utah Jazz stats
The Jazz are back to being one of the most underappreciated good teams in the NBA. Despite trailing Phoenix and Golden State by just a few games in the West and owning a better record than any team in the East entering Saturday, Utah still remains underrated.
Donovan Mitchell has led a scoring attack that ranks first in points per game this year. Mitchell contributed 25.1 of those points per game.
Utah is also first in rebounds per game and field goal percentage. Rudy Gobert is the team leader in rebounds with an incredible 15.1 boards per contest to go along with 15.5 points and 2.3 blocks per game.
The Jazz feature plenty of further depth throughout the roster, which makes them one of the deepest teams in basketball.
