The 95th Academy Awards are slated to happen on March 12, 2023, inside the Dolby Theatre, and one of the most intriguing awards on this docket is the Academy Awards for best actress.
Although we are still a few months from the official nominations being announced, we can still dive into the betting odds and create little betting guides for the event.
Last year’s Academy Award for Best Actress went to Jessica Chastain as she performed as the titular character in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”.
Nominee the Betting Market
As we mentioned earlier, the official nominations are not available, so the amount of women on the betting market is incredible, and we can get some incredible odds factoring into the decision that will dissipate once the official nominations list is made public.
Let’s dive into some of the more likely contenders and discuss what their realistic chances of walking out with the award are.
Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie actually has a pair of films that could put her in contention for the Academy Awards for best actress this year.
She is in both “Amsterdam” and “Babylon” during this award season and both have been in the award cycle for best picture as well, so she is definitely going to get some praise and shine for both films.
Odds-on Favorite
She is currently sitting at the odds-on favorite to be the Academy Awards best actress at +375 here and has definitely put herself in a great position to walk away with the best actress award given by the Academy.
Ana de Armas
Ana de Armas might have the most well-known part of any actress in the field of potential nominations as she portrayed Marilyn Monroe in “Blonde”.
Using some of her entertaining pick-up lines throughout the movie could intrigue voters as she exploits her sexuality of Monroe throughout the film.
That could win her some brownie points with the Academy, as a biopic typically does well throughout awards season.
She has been on the rise in the last few years, and just like Robbie, this film is also circling around in the Best Picture category as well, which will be a plus for her.
Ana de Armas Others Nominations
She has already been nominated for a major award throughout her professional career as she was a Golden Globe nominee in 2020 for the same award for her performance in “Knives Out”.
She is currently tied with Cate Blanchett for the third-best odds to win the award at +550 so she has as good of a shot as anyone to walk away with her first ever Academy Awards for best actress.
These odds are likely to stay around the same area for the next few months as the official date of the announcements for the nominations of each award is on January 24, 2023.
This is the first year they are also returning to a 12-month calendar year to select movies and performances for the awards after the pandemic forced them to change their window for some.
Academy Awards Best Actress Betting Preview
The Academy Awards have a lot of people that have a chance of walking out with the prestigious award, and there is a list of about 20 women that currently have odds to win the award listed. We highlighted the two most likely winners and will focus on them in this next section.
Realistically, these are the two most well-known actresses on the slate for this award and the two likeliest to win.
Experts’ Pick
My nod has to go to Margot Robbie for the simple fact that humans are voting on this award and will appreciate the fact she has two legitimate roles that could have put her in contention for the award.
Ana de Armas has serious contention for this award and playing a Hollywood icon definitely helps, and I will throw some money on both with their Entertainment odds being so high, but I would suggest that Margot Robbie will win the 95th Academy Awards for best actress.
