Scottie Scheffler is clearly the best player on the PGA Tour, and he continues to do something each week to further cement that status. Scheffler finished off his great weekend of golf on Monday morning as he captured the win at the RBC Heritage.
It was basically a formality that took place on Monday morning as Scheffler had a five-shot lead with just three holes to play after rain delayed the final round. Scheffler did bogey the final hole on Monday morning but still finished with a three-shot win over Sahith Theegala.
This was the fourth win in the last five starts for Scheffler, and it seems as if more wins are coming throughout the year. By winning the RBC Heritage, Scheffler is the first since 1985 to win a tournament following winning the green jacket at Augusta National.
Theegala was able to bring home $666,667 with a second-place finish, but he even acknowledged that he was never in the race. Scheffler was a big betting favorite according to the odds to win RBC Heritage, and he was clearly the best player on the course.
Not only has Scottie Scheffler dominant run proved on the course, but he has now won more than $18 million throughout the year. Scheffler is set to become a father by the end of the month, as his wife has a due date next week.
The number one player in the world will not be teeing it up in New Orleans this weekend, but he will compete in the three other majors throughout the rest of the year.
Russell Shines on Korn Kerry Tour
Scheffler was not the only player to make some history over the weekend as Miles Russell was also making some headlines. Russell is a 15-year-old competing on the Korn Ferry Tour, and he set a couple of records.
After making the cut after the first two rounds, Russell became the youngest player ever on the Korn Ferry Tour to make the cut in an event. He finished the tournament with a 5-under 66 to become the youngest player ever to have a top-20 finish.
He is the current American Junior Golf Association Player of the Year, and he qualified for another tournament by finishing inside of the Top 25. Russell is not allowed to win any money on the Korn Ferry Tour, but he is gaining important experience of playing against some other great golfers.
Not only is Russell competing on the Korn Ferry Tour, but he has also made some attempts to qualify for a PGA Tour event. In March, Russell missed out on qualifying for the Puerto Rico Open by just one stroke.
Tim Widing was the winner of the Lecom Suncoast Classic, picking up the first Korn Ferry Tour win of his career.
Korda Making LPGA Tour History
Not only is there a dominant player on the PGA Tour, but Nelly Korda is dominating the LPGA Tour as well with great golf odds. Korda is making a return to golf after having a surgery to repair a blood clot, and she has returned in top form.
This weekend was one of the most impressive performances from Korda as she won the Chevron Championship by two strokes. This was her fifth straight win on the LPGA Tour as she has not lost a start since the month of January.
She becomes just the third player of all-time to win five straight events and the first to do so since Annika Sorenstam back in 2004-05. This was the first major win for Korda since she won the Women’s PGA Championship back in 2021.
The Korda Family
Golf success runs deep in the Korda family as Nelly’s older sister has won six times on the LPGA Tour. Nelly has now won over $11.3 million playing professional golf, and $2.4 million of that has come this season. His younger brother, Sebastian Korda, is a professional tennis player.
Korda will now look to become the first woman ever to win six LPGA events in a row, and she will look to accomplish that feat right away. During her post-tournament interview, Korda confirmed that she will be competing in the JM Eagle LA Championship.
What made this win even sweeter for Korda was the fact that she had to erase a 1-stroke deficit in the final round.
