Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Tokyo enters the closing stages of the tournament as only four teams remain in the battle for the title. We have two games on the eSports schedule on Wednesday, offering great opportunities to find eSports picks based on the Valorant Masters Tokyo Odds.
Fnatic Should Defeat Evil Geniuses
The upper bracket final match of VCT Masters Tokyo will see Fnatic meet with Evil Geniuses in what the Valorant Masters Tokyo odds suggest should be an easy match for the Europeans.
Fnatic were on top of many people’s esports events predictions list this season as the most dominant team in the world, and they traveled to Japan with the shortest Valorant Masters Tokyo odds. So far, Fnatic have yet to disappoint, with wins against NRG and Paper Rex, but it’s also fair to say that they’ve yet to face a team as good as Evil Geniuses. To bet on esports, you sometimes have to consider betting on the underdogs; Evil Geniuses are a good example.
The American team has barely made it to Japan and held one of the longest outright Valorant Masters Tokyo odds. Still, EG defied all expectations and made it to the penultimate stage of the event. With wins against DRX and FUT in the group stage and two clean performances against LOUD and Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses have made a name for themselves as live outsiders to win it all.
Evil Geniuses have looked surprisingly good so far, and if they can keep it up, they might be able to cause some damage to Fnatic. But there’s a reason why Valorant Masters Tokyo odds indicate that this is Fnatic’s team to lose. Fnatic have lost just one game this season and are the reigning LOCK//IN champions, whereas EG have yet to win anything in 2023.
NRG and Paper Rex In The Lower Bracket Semifinal
NRG Esports had a good start to the tournament and made it out of the group stage with a perfect record and wins against NaVi and EDward Gaming. Unfortunately, they got paired with Fnatic in the first round of the playoffs and, as expected, lost 0-2. Nevertheless, NRG got back on the horse and found momentum in the lower bracket, where they eliminated DRX and Team Liquid from the tournament, taking one step closer to the big stage.
Over the five games, NRG esports have shown good qualities and look like dangerous outsiders to make a splash, but first, they need to make it past Paper Rex.
Paper Rex were one of the best teams in the VCT Pacific League and traveled to Tokyo as a squad that shouldn’t be ignored. But then disaster struck, as Paper Rex’s star player something, couldn’t secure a travel visa and had to stay home.
Without the Russian star, Paper Rex lost a lot of the quality that made them dangerous darkhorse, but they still performed well. After eliminating DRX from the first round of the playoffs, Paper Rex had to admit defeat to Fnatic in the second round but bounced back with a 2-1 victory against EDward Gaming.
Much like NRG, Paper Rex had their ups and downs, but they held their own and showed they can perform even without something. But the question remains whether Paper Rex are one of the underdog Valorant Masters Tokyo picks worth considering knowing that they play with a substitute.
Valorant Masters Tokyo Predictions
Evil Geniuses have looked good so far this tournament, but beating Fnatic won’t come easy, regardless of how much they’ve achieved. Fnatic are levels above any other Valorant team in the world, and barring any surprises, they should dispose of EG just as easily as they had other teams en route to the UB finals.
On the other side of the bracket, Paper Rex look like an intriguing bet at the offered odds. Still, they’ve shown cracks in the previous round of the eSport event, and the absence of something is becoming more noticeable as the tournament progresses. But both teams can either be good or fall apart, so this is closer to 50/50 than anything else.
