The 105th playing of the PGA Championship is here, with the top golfers in the world set to take on the historic Oak Hill Country Club for a chance to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy.
This will be the fourth time the East Course has hosted the PGA Championship in the tournament’s history. The first round of the event begins on Thursday, May 18th, and concludes on Sunday, May 21st.
As the tournament nears, let’s dive into the golf betting guide below and look at the current PGA Championship odds and give you some of our favorite golf picks this week.
The Favorites
The two players with the best PGA Championship odds pre-tournament are Scottie Scheffler (+700) and Jon Rahm (+750), and they’ve been favorite golf picks this week.
Jon Rahm (+750)
Rahm, the No. 1 player in the world, is looking to become the first player since 2018 (Brooks Koepka) to win multiple majors in the same season. Outside of his victory at the Masters, the 28-year-old has three additional wins this season.
Scottie Scheffler (+700)
Scheffler comes into the week as the No. 2 ranked player in the world and eyeing his second major title. THE PLAYERS champion has posted 13-straight finishes of T12 or better with a pair of victories this year.
When making your golf bets today, keep in mind that Scheffler has played twice since a solo fourth at Augusta, finishing T11 at the RBC Heritage and T5 at last week’s AT&T Byron Nelson.
The Value Plays
When you look at the odds, it is hard not to want to take a chance with one of the top two players on the board. There is some good value if you are a risk-taker, and we have a handful of names picked out with golf odds that return great value.
Tony Finau (+2200)
Tony Finau (+2200) is one of those players. Finau is coming to the season’s second major, playing some of the best golf of his career. The 33-year-old has a pair of victories so far in the 2022-23 season and has found his name on the front page of the final leaderboard here three times in the past.
Justin Thomas (+3500)
Defending PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas (+3500) is well down the board for the type of ball striker he is. Thomas gives bettors the best value, as he can turn it on any weekend and make a run at the tournament title.
While he hasn’t had his best stuff this season, the two-time Wanamaker Trophy winner has a T25 and T14 in his last two starts leading up to this week. He looks like on of the better golf predictions for the PGA Championship!
Max Homa (+4000)
Max Homa (+4000) joins Finau as another player whose golf has been trending in the right direction and someone who’s on the cusp of winning their first major.
Homa has vaulted to the No. 6 ranked player in the world thanks to five victories over the last three years. A T8 at the Wells Fargo, his last time playing, gives us hope that Homa can be in the thick of things come Sunday.
The Longshots
Phil Mickelson was a longshot to win the PGA Championship in 2021, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that a name further down the list can win a major. If you peek down the PGA Championship odds list, there are some intriguing names worth some small pre-tournament wagers.
Adam Scott (+8000)
Australia’s Adam Scott (+8000) is a name if you’ve been following golf closely that has been on the front page of the leaderboard about every week. Scott hasn’t won on Tour since 2020, but the 42-year-old has posted back-to-back top 10 finishes leading into the PGA Championship.
Sahith Theegala (+9000)
Second-year pro-Sahith Theegala (+9000) is our second longshot golf pick this week to make some noise. Theegala has seven top-10 finishes this season on Tour, highlighted by a solo ninth on his first trip to Augusta.
The 25-year-old will be teeing it up for the first time at the PGA Championship and looks like the best bet in golf this week.
