The flagship tournament on the DP World Tour, the BMW PGA Championship, is in store this week at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. The tournament was founded in 1955 under the original title of the British PGA Championship. Tournament play begins on Thursday, September 14th, and concludes on Sunday, September 17th.
Shane Lowry is the defending champion, winning his sixth World Tour title and eighth professional title here last year. Lowry defeated Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm by one shot to claim the title. He became just the second Irishman, and first since 1958, to win the event.
Many of the European Ryder Cup members will be in action this week. As they get in one final tune-up before the biannual event takes place later this month in Italy.
The time is now to preview this week’s tournament and hand out our BMW PGA Championship prediction.

The Wentworth Club is a mainstay on the golf schedule. Serving as the annual host of the BMW PGA Championship since 1984. The privately owned golf club was founded in 1922 and comprises of three eighteen-hole courses on the property. The headquarters of the DP World Tour are located on the grounds.
The West Course was designed by Harry Colt in 1926. And has been the layout played since the tournament’s permanent move to Wentworth. Ernie Els has overseen a pair of designs at the property, the first in 2005 and the second in 2017.
On the scorecard, the course plays as a par-72 that stretches just under 7,300 yards. Mature trees and heather run throughout the property, penalizing players who fire errant tee shots. The green complexes at Wentworth are annually considered some of the best surfaces on the golf schedule.
BMW PGA Championship Field
This year’s field is stacked with international talent, and many of the players sitting stop the DP World Tour golf standings. Headlined by FedEx Cup Champion Victor Hovland. Who will be teeing it up for the first time since winning at East Lake.
When making your golf picks, keep in mind that McIlroy and Rahm, the no. 2 and no. 3 ranked players in the world are back on the field after runner-up finishes last year.
Lowry returns to Wentworth to defend his title and will be joined by every member of the 2023 European Ryder Cup team.
That list of players includes Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sepp Straka, Justin Rose, Robert MacIntyre, Nicolai Hojgaard, and Ludvig Aberg, along with McIlroy, Rahm, and Hovland.
Joining Lowry are recent champions Billy Horschel (2021), Hatton (2020), Danny Willett (2019), Francesco Molinari (2018), McIlroy (2014), and Ryder Cup captain and two-time winner Luke Donald (2011, 2012).

Tommy Fleetwood (+1800)

Fleetwood tees it up for the first time since firing two rounds in the 60s to capture a T6 at the TOUR Championship last month.
He’s pieced together an excellent year with nine top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour. The 32-year-old is all but due for his seventh DP European victory.
Adam Scott (+3500)

The Aussie is an enticing play at this value and our final BMW PGA Championship prediction. At 43 years of age, the 14-time PGA Tour winner logged 15-of-17 cuts made during the 2022-23 PGA Tour season, including four top-10s over his final nine events.
Scott is a juicy dark horse play this week.
