Wednesday features the finale of a three-game National League series between the Atlanta Braves (86-45) and the Colorado Rockies (49-83).
After winning the first two games of the series, the Braves will look to finish the sweep and improve on their major league-best record. The Braves lead the NL East by 12.5 games over the Philadelphia Phillies, but they have no intention of letting off the gas.
The Colorado Rockies odds of winning their division are practically non-existent as they sit 33 games back in the NL West. Still, playing for pride, they will at least look to salvage the finale on Wednesday.

Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies Betting Analysis
Trying for the sweep, Braves’ manager Brian Snitker will turn to 25-year-old righty Darius Vines. This will be Vines’ MLB debut. In nine minor league games this season, he is 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA.
Vines will enjoy having one of the best all-around defenses in baseball surrounding him. Atlanta ranks third in staff earned run average with a 3.82 ERA. They rank fifth in scoring defense, allowing just 4.08 runs per game (3.86 on the road).
On the offensive side, the MLB team stats have the Braves as the best-scoring offense in baseball. They are currently averaging 5.85 runs per game (5.83 on the road).
The biggest offensive contributors for the Atlanta Braves today include Matt Olson (43 HR, 112 RBI, 102 R), Austin Riley (31 HR, 81 RBI, 96 R), Marcell Ozuna (30 HR, 73 RBI), and Ronald Acuna Jr (29 HR, 79 RBI, 119 R, 61 SB).
Rockies’ Ace in Action
For the Rockies, they will turn to 30-year-old southpaw Kyle Freeland to take the mound in the finale. His MLB player stats show that he is 5-13 in 25 games with a 5.00 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and he has 86 strikeouts in 135 innings.
He took a no-decision in his last start, allowing three earned runs over six innings to the Baltimore Orioles.
Offensively, the Rockies rank 19th in the majors, averaging 4.39 runs per game (5.13 at home). They are led by Ryan McMahon, who is hitting .251/.334/.460 with a team-high 22 home runs, 67 runs batted in, and 74 runs scored.
Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies Betting Picks
This is truly a David versus Goliath matchup. The Braves have easily been the best team in baseball, while the Rockies have the third-worst record in all of baseball.
It also doesn’t help that the Rockies struggle at home to the tune of a 28-35 record. To make matters worse, they rank 29th in scoring defense, allowing 5.85 runs per game. It is worse at Coors Field, where they are allowing 6.73 runs per game this season.
For starter Kyle Freeland, he has been slightly better at home than on the road, but he is still just 4-4 in 13 home starts with a 4.68 ERA.
At the end of the day, even if the Rockies are able to scratch across a few runs against the rookie Darius Vines, they just don’t have the firepower to keep up with the Braves.
- For our Braves vs Rockies picks & parlays, expect Atlanta to win big and for the total to go over in this one.
