We have UFC 274 coming up on Saturday night inside of the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona as the main event will be for the UFC Lightweight Championship as the champion Charles Oliveira will put the title on the line against the number-one contender Justin Gaethje. This will be a very entertaining fight as Gaethje is 23-3-0 entering this fight while Oliveira is currently 32-8-0 with a no contest before entering the octagon.
Last Fight’s Records
Gaethje is entering this fight after fighting on November 6 at UFC 268 where he defeated Michael Chandler via unanimous decision. Oliveira has been dominant as he is coming off a submission victory over Dustin Poirier back on December 11 at UFC 269.
Oliveira vs Gaethje Betting Analysis
Charles Oliveira content
Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira has been doing incredibly well as he has a 32-8-0 record with one no contest on the ledger. Oliveira has a solid plan of attack as 20 of his 32 fights has ended with a submission, including in two of his previous four fights. As a whole, Oliveira has dominated as he has won 10 consecutive fights and has not lost since December 2017.
There has been consistent claims that Oliveira “quits” when the going gets tough but that seems to not be further from the truth. He is a submission machine as he has 15 submission wins inside of the UFC picks and that is a record. Oliveira has fought hurt and continues to win and proves to be one of the greatest lightweights in mixed martial arts history.
Justin Gaethje content
Justin Garthje is a dominant fighter and is worthy of being the number one ranked fighter for the lightweight championship. He has a career record of 23-3-0 and has no problem ending the fight early as all but four of his victories ended with his opponent being knocked out. That 83 knockout percentage showcases his abilities to end a fight at any time and his opponents have to be prepared for a lot of physicality.
One thing that can be a cause for concern is that since winning his 19th consecutive professional fight, he has a 4-3 record inside of the octagon with a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov and was knocked out by both Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier in consecutive fights. It will be interesting as Charles Oliveira has been able to lock in submissions and apply a lot of pressure.
Updates
There has been no injury updates of any kind as both Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje are entering the octagon at 100 percent. Both men are looking to walk out of the octagon as champion and this should be an intriguing matchup.
Oliveira vs Gaethje Betting Preview
These odds are showing that the sportsbooks are expecting a very competitive main event fight. According to the DraftKings Sportsbook, lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is listed as the favorite at -190 while the challenger Justin Gaethje is currently listed as the underdog at +160 odds. Remember that these UFC odds can slightly be altered closer to the fight and different sportsbooks provide different odds to the same fight.
Oliveira vs Gaethje Betting Prediction
This is going to be one of the tougher fights to predict as Charles Oliveira is a very skilled champion and has not lost in his previous 10 fights. However, Justin Gaethje is a worthy challenger with the ability to knock out his opponent at any second. I believe Oliveira has the advantage here as he has been the top dog for a while and has the age advantage as he is a year younger. There seems to be a thing that is exposing Gaethje as he has lost three of his previous seven fights and Oliveira can force him to submit. Oliveira has fought some very tough strikers throughout his career, so Gaethje is going to have to get close but once Oliveira puts him on the mat, this is going to be a methodical fight that ends up with Gaethje tapping out. All in all, go with Charles Oliveira to walk into and out of the cage as the UFC Lightweight Champion.
