In the 2023 Formula 1 season, it’s two-time reigning, defending Drivers’ World Champion Max Verstappen’s world out front. While everyone else fights for positions behind him as Formula 1 heads to an old-school circuit with a lengthy history, which has undergone a second reconfiguration in as many years: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Regardless if anyone will challenge Verstappen for the race win, we’ve got a variety of Spanish Grand Prix 2023 predictions and betting picks for you heading into the weekend.

Alongside the main Spanish Grand Prix odds, we like to give you a few other F1 picks to consider for your betting ticket.
Red Bull and its RB-19 won’t be beaten by anything but reliability. Which is why oddsmakers have them listed at -1200 to win. If you are taking Verstappen or Sergio Pérez to win the Spanish Grand Prix, take the extra value and add Red Bull as the winning car. Only Aston Martin’s AMR-23 in Fernando Alonso’s hands has odds below four digits to win the race, currently sitting at +750.
For bonus Spanish Grand Prix predictions, we like Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda (+225), McLaren’s Lando Norris (-150), and Alpine’s duo of Esteban Ocon (-350) and Pierre Gasly (-350) to finish in the points.

We have one guarantee in our Spanish Grand Prix 2023 predictions: there will be new lap records set at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalyuna.
This will be Formula 1’s first trip to Barcelona on the new Grand Prix configuration without the chicane in the final sector before what is now turn 14. That means the previous Formula 1 lap times and current lap records set on the circuit configuration will be shattered by seconds this weekend.
The Spanish Grand Prix has a history of racing dating back to 1913, with many breaks in between but has been a fixture on the F1 calendar from 1967 to the present. Missing only 1982-1985.
Three active drivers have won the Spanish Grand Prix, including Fernando Alonso (2006, 2013) and Mercedes Lewis Hamilton (2014, 2017-2021). However, there is only one driver who has won at Barcelona under the current technical regulations: Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Verstappen holds two Grand Prix wins: one in 2016 and the most recent Spanish Grand Prix in 2022.
Who Will Win the F1 Spanish Grand Prix?
According to the Spanish Grand Prix odds, there is Max Verstappen, and there is everyone else. It’s a matter of when, not if, Max will take the lead in the race.
But we also know that Red Bull’s advantage is on Sunday, not Saturday. This leads us to our Spanish Grand Prix 2023 predictions. We’re obviously taking Verstappen to win the race. But we like either Fernando Alonso or Charles Leclerc to challenge the Red Bull duo for pole position.
But what about Mercedes? This is the first real weekend of testing on the W-14’s revamped aerodynamic platform, and while Lewis Hamilton is likely to score in the points, we don’t expect the Mercs to compete at the front any time soon.
