The NASCAR Cup Series moves to Concord, NC, for the fifth running of the Bank of America ROVAL 400. It’s the 32nd race of the season and is set to take place on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 2:05 PM Eastern time.
To complete the race, drivers must navigate 109 laps on the 2,280-mile road course.
Kyle Larson is the defending champion, helping to extend Hendrick Motorsports’ streak to three straight wins at this event. Teammate Chase Elliott won the event twice in 2019 and 2020.
Bank of America ROVAL 400 Betting Picks and Analysis
Chase Elliott
The current NASCAR Cup Series playoffs leader, Elliott, won his 18th career event on the final lap at Talladega last weekend in a race that saw the lead change hands a season-high 57 times.
Elliotts’ Winning Streak
It was his fifth victory of the season, which is tops among all drivers. The win locks him into the Round of 8 for the sixth time, and he’s the only driver still in the running for the championship to win during these playoffs.
In addition, he’s won two of the last three road course races and is one of the top ROVAL 400 betting picks for Sunday’s event.
Kyle Larson
Larson has yet to equal his success from last season but is still in the hunt for his second straight NASCAR Cup Series championship leading up to the final race in the Round of 12. He’s currently sixth in the NASCAR standings, 16 points behind Elliott.
However, this event is where Larson began his impressive run last year by winning four of the next five races on the NASCAR schedule on the way to taking his first Cup Series title.
He only has two wins this season but has 11 top-five finishes and is one of the favorite ROVAL 400 betting picks this weekend.
Tyler Reddick
Reddick was eliminated from the playoffs in the Round of 16 but won at Texas Motor Speedway two weeks ago.
He had followed that up with an ugly race at Talladega last weekend, where he started in the eighth position and led for 11 laps before finishing 28th. He has two road course wins this season and finished in the top ten in two others.
Runner-up
Reddick was the runner-up at the ROVAL 400 last year, which was his best finish of the season and the playoffs.
Although he’s no longer in contention for this year’s championship, Reddick is having a breakout year and is one of the ROVAL 400 betting picks to take the checkered flag on Sunday.
Bank of America ROVAL 400 Betting Trends
- Three of the last four winners on the ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway started the race in ninth position or higher.
- Chevrolet has won the last three events at the Bank of America ROVAL 400.
- At least three drivers led the Bank of America ROVAL 400 for ten or more laps in all four previous races.
- Chase Elliott hasn’t had a road course win since last summer but has 12 top-five finishes on road courses since 2019, which is five more than the next-best driver.
- No road course races on the NASCAR Cup Series this season have had a winning driver that finished in the points in Stage 1.
Bank of America ROVAL 400 Betting Pick and Prediction
Bank of America ROVAL 400 odds favor Elliott to win his third event in the last four years at Charlotte. Elliott struggled for weeks after winning the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 in July and went nine straight races without a victory.
However, he finished second at the Bass Pro Shops Night Race and finally got his fifth season win last weekend at Talladega.
Most Profitable Drive to Bet On
During his championship season in 2020, he captured the checkered flag at this race but finished 12th here a year ago.
With the lead in the Cup Standings coming this weekend, the momentum is certainly in favor of Elliott, the king of the road courses in 2022 and the ROVAL 400 betting pick to win his second straight race.
Bank of America ROVAL 400 Betting Pick: Chase Elliott (+350)
