The 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season is way past its halfway mark, as the world’s top drivers head to Lebanon, Tennessee, for the 2022 Tennessee Lottery 250. The race will take place on the 1.33-mile-long Nashville Superspeedway, and it will mark the 15th race on the NASCAR 2022 schedule.
Interestingly, this will be only the second race on the Nashville Superspeedway since 2011 due to the track getting put out of the rotation between 2012-2020. However, we saw a spectacular race here in 2021, and this weekend’s event promises to be just as exciting!
Tennessee Lottery 250 Betting Picks
Justin Allgaier
As we look through NASCAR odds in search of our picks, one name stands out – Justin Allgaier. The 36-year-old heads to Tennessee as the current no.5 on the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings, but despite sitting far below A. J. Allmendinger, Allgaier shouldn’t be overlooked.
He has been driving well this season but has further improved of late, having picked up four top-5s in his last five starts. That includes a runner-up finish at the Dover, a victory in Darlington, a fourth-place in Texas, and a fifth-place finish in Portland.
Admittedly, he has struggled early into the season, going through a stretch of five consecutive races without a single top-10 finish. Still, we should value his past results much higher for the upcoming race. And if his great form isn’t enough, Allgaier has also done okay here in 2021.
He started the 2021 Tennessee Lottery 250 from 11th place and ended the race as runner-up, behind only Kyle Busch, which is an impressive feat. Even though he hadn’t led a single stage, he climbed up to second place in Stage 2 and did not let go until the end of the race.
Solid form combined with an excellent performance from 2021 makes Allgaier a very appealing NASCAR betting pick for the 2022 Tennessee Lottery 250.
Josh Berry
If we’re talking about good form and solid past results on the track, we can’t look past Josh Berry. He was fourth here last year, which might not seem too exciting, but he had to start the race from 22nd place and was already inside the top 9 by the end of Stage 1.
Throughout the race, he continued gaining spots and eventually landed in fourth, which is nothing to sneeze at. Moreover, Berry has been exceptional in the events leading up to the 2022 Tennessee Lottery 250.
He already has two wins to his name, and they both came from his last five starts (Dover and Concord). Between the two wins, Berry has managed an 18th-place finish at Darlington and was seventh in Texas but improved the impression last week with a fourth-place finish.
Much like Allgaier, Berry heads to the track where he had done well 12 months back in great form, making him one of the drivers to watch out for.
A.J. Allmendinger
If the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season has taught us anything is that when you’re making your NASCAR picks, you have to consider A.J. Allmendinger. The 40-year-old is the current Xfinity Series leader and by far the most impressive driver of the year.
He had won just two races, which are the same as Ty Gibbs, Noah Gragson, and Josh Berry, but Allmendinger is far more consistent than the three. Over the 14 races, he had finished outside of the top 9 just once (19th at Concord), which is seriously impressive.
Out of the 13 top-10s, Allmendinger has claimed seven top-5s with six podiums, meaning he finished in the top three in nearly half of the races this season. Now for the best part – Allmendinger was solid on this track last year when he placed fifth.
Tennessee Lottery 250 Betting Trends
The Tennessee Lottery 250 has been held just once over the last decade, meaning we have very little relevant data on the race. Still, there are a few trends that stand out.
The only two drivers to win the Tennessee Lottery 250 more than once were Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick, but none will attend this year’s event.
Chevrolet and Ford are tied for the most wins on the track with four apiece, followed by Toyota with two wins (2009, 2021).
In 2021, the race was dominated by Toyota and Chevrolet, with the two claiming all of the top nine spots.
Since 2008, when Brad Keselowski won on Nashville Superspeedway, the driver who led the most laps also won the race, yet the race produced just two winners who started the race from the pole position.
Tennessee Lottery 250 Betting Pick And Prediction
With so many excellent drivers heading to Nashville Superspeedway, it’s tough to decide who will win, but looking at the latest NASCAR odds, it’s not trough to find our favorite man.
To say that A.J. Allmendinger has been driving phenomenally this season would be an understatement. The fact that he has finished top-three in nearly half of all races and that he has top-10s in all but one race is a strong testament to his quality as a driver and consistency.
With such figures, it would make a lot of sense to bet on A.J. Allmendinger to win any race for the remainder of the season, but that idea is much more believable for the 2022 Tennessee Lottery 250.
Admittedly, he has just one start on the track, but he was solid here in 2021, so it’s fair to say he will be just as dangerous this weekend. And if his performance last weekend is any indication, it’s tough to doubt Allmendinger and his chances to claim his third W of the season.
Prediction: A.J. Allmendinger to win
