Houston Rockets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Preview
Cleveland Cavaliers
In the 102-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets in overtime on Saturday, the Cavaliers enjoyed a big game from center Isaiah Mobley. He scored 23 points in the game and was 9-15 from the field.
Emoni Bates, who the Cavaliers drafted this spring, scored 20 points, while Luke Travers added 11 points and ripped down 12 rebounds in the win. Cleveland made 12 three points shots in the game.
The Cavaliers, prior to that, beat the Chicago Bulls in a thriller between divisional rivals. Bates was so Mobley. Those two combined for 33 points in the game, but the big story was Craig Porter and his 22 points.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets got to the title game because they were able to slow down the Utah Jazz and beat them 115-101 on Saturday. One hundred fifteen points got the job done against a Utah team that sat several of their key contributors.
The Rockets also sat guys such as Jabari Smith Jr, Tari Eason, and Amen Thompson. In the win, the Rockets saw Cam Whitmore and Nate Hinton combine for 52 points. Jermaine Samuels Jr was huge on the glass, with ten rebounds, and Trevor Hudgins added an additional 16 points. Houston went 19 for 49 from downtown in the win.
In the game previous to that, the Rockets scored 118 on the Golden State Warriors. The Rockets once again had big production from Whitmore and Hudgins, as those two combined for 49 points.
Matthew Mayer, who finished his college career at Illinois, added 15 in the game. Houston played eight guys in the game, and seven of them went for double digits in the win.
Houston Rockets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Picks
While both teams would love to come away with a championship, and the stakes may seem to be high, once again, realize this is strictly the NBA Summer League.
The NBA Summer League Odds have been pretty hit or miss. These guys are playing for a chance to make the team once the fall arrives; in saying that, though, both teams would love to end the summer on a high note.
We feel like Houston may be a little more shorthanded than they would like to be. Shutting several of their top guys down will come back to haunt them in this game. When the game is on the line, there is not enough offense to go around.
- In saying that, we are going to take the Cleveland Cavaliers at -3.5 to win this game and take the NBA Summer League title.
The Rockets had a great summer but fell short here. Also, take the Over 188.5, as when things start to get carried away, the defense will drop. Looking at the NBA Summer League lines, the best bet is to take the Over 188.5.
Those are our final Rockets vs Cavaliers Odds and Picks. It will be interesting to see which player sticks out as one of the NBA Summer League MVPs for 2023.
