The New York Knicks (12-12) and Indiana Pacers (10-16) will face off against one another on Wednesday, December 8th at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 P.M. EST.
New York snapped a three-game skid on Tuesday with a 121-109 victory over the Spurs in San Antonio. RJ Barrett led the way with 32 points and seven three-pointers. Alec Burks contributed 18 points while Julius Randle added 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Indiana last played on Monday where they emerged victorious against the Wizards by a final tally of 116-110. Domantas Sabonis had a full statline with 30 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and a block.
Knicks at Pacers Stats
Looking at the Knicks stats
The Knicks are just 4-6 over their last 10 games despite last night’s victory. New York has labored through a mediocre season as they sit at .500. Perhaps, this recent win could lead to a hot stretch for the team.
Julius Randle has emerged as more than just a scorer in 2021. Randle has been balanced with 20.1 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. Each one of those statistics is tops on the team and Randle truly has been a leader.
His unselfishness led to the win against San Antonio. It was clear that RJ Barrett was on fire so Randle and his teammates continued feeding him the ball. Oftentimes, stars will fail to recognize when a teammate is playing well and not pass them the ball.
Randle has proven that he is not that kind of player.
Barret now is averaging 14 points and has developed as a quality second option for the Knicks. New York is now seventh in the NBA in three-point percentage with a mark of 36.6 percent.
However, they rank just 21st overall in field goal percentage. If they can find some consistency inside the arc as well, this could turn into a lethal offensive unit.
The Knicks would not be in the playoffs if the season ended today. But fortunately for them, that is not the case. This is a team with plenty of potential and time to turn things around.
Looking at the Pacers stats
Indiana is also 4-6 over their past 10 games. But they find themselves just two spots removed from the last place Pistons in the East. This has unquestionably been a rough start to the campaign for the Pacers.
Malcolm Brogdon leads Indiana with 20.5 points per game to go along with 6.2 assists per contest. Domantas Sabonis is now averaging 17.8 points and 12 rebounds per game following Monday’s incredible performance.
Players such as Caris LeVert, Chris Duarte, and Myles Turner have all impressed as well.
Indiana ranks right in the middle of the league in field goal percentage and points per game. The one thing they don’t do is shoot the three-ball.
Nonetheless, the team is not awful from a statistical perspective.
While they don’t offer a ton of depth, the Pacers still should be better than their record indicates. It will be interesting to see if they can improve as the season rolls along.

The majority of top sportsbooks have the Pacers as 4.5-point favorites.
I believe this is a great opportunity to take a chance on the underdog. The Knicks are the better team and have momentum following their recent victory. Despite playing on the road in Indiana, I like New York to win this game and upset the odds.
