Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Loyola Chicago Ramblers Betting Preview
Dustin May brings back nearly his entire Florida Atlantic basketball roster that went to the Final Four a season ago. The only player that does not return is Michael Forrest. That means seniors Jalen Gaffney, Bryan Greenlee and Brandon Weatherspoon have 135 games started under their belt. Johnell Davis, and Alijah Martin are also back and were named preseason AAC Player of the Year honors.
Davis was the leading scorer for the Owls, with nearly 14 points per game. The 6’5 guard out of Indiana also ripped down 5.4 rebounds per game. Fellow guard Alijah Marin scored 13.4 per game. Vladislav Goldin, out of Russia was the big man in the paint with 10.2 points per game also will be a key factor.
Forrest, who is gone, was fifth on the squad, with 8.2 points per game. The Owls have this game, and then will head back home and host Eastern Michigan and Bryant. Florida Atlantic did not lose a single game at home last year. The Owls have a trip to Butler on Thanksgiving day, and also come back to the Land of Lincoln to face Illinois in December. The Owls also have a trip to Arizona over Christmas break.
Ramblers Aim to Improve Offensive Output
Porter Moser and his Loyola Rambles are led by head coach Drew Valentine. They lost over 19 points per game from last year’s squad. The top player to depart was Marquise Kennedy, their guard, who scored 7.5 points per game. Big man Bryce Golden is also gone for the Ramblers.
The Ramblers will turn to Phillip Alson and Braden Norris to lead the charge offensive. Those two scored 14.6 and 10.9 respectively. Ben Schwieger and Tom Welch are also back and should get into the mix. A couple of key transfers came in, with Dame Adelekun from Dartmouth, and Greg Dolan from Cornell being the keys.
Trey Lewis is a traditional newcomer, as he starts his freshman season. The Ramblers were one of the worst-scoring teams in College Basketball, with just 67.4 points per game last season. Loyola will host Eastern Illinois on Saturday, and then take on the Flames of UIC in a Chicago battle on November 14th.
Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Loyola Chicago Ramblers Betting Prediction
Loyola is going to play this game tough, but Dustin May and his Owls have too much firepower for this game. The Owls are going to be experienced, and talented. The point spread is not enough in this game. Florida Atlantic wins this game, and covers the spread.
