North Carolina Central Eagles vs Kansas Jayhawks Preview
The Eagles started the season last year with three losses to start the season. They lost games at Virginia, Appalachian State and Liberty. Later, they took losses to Marquette, LSU and Gardner Webb, along with one at Radford as well. In the MEAC Tournament, they got the 2nd seed, and beat Delaware State by 30 before falling in overtime to Norfolk State.
North Carolina Central Eagles basketball lost all five of their starters from a season ago. But, head coach LeVelle Moton brought in 10 transfers this season. That means, just six players on the 17 man roster were on the team last season. One of the biggest exciting pieces is Kye Dickson, who scored 21 points per game at Grayson College a season ago.
Fred Cleveland from Chicago brings back the most experience. He was named to the third-team all-MEAC. A season ago, he was 8th in the conference in assists.
The Eagles will see this game at Kansas, and then host Virginia-Lynchburg on Thursday, before another road trip at Georgia on Sunday.
Jayhawks’ Impressive Record
For the Kansas Jayhawks, Dajuan Harris, Kevin McCullar Jr and Jr Adams Jr will return this season. The big name is Hunter Dickinson, who transferred for his final season of College Basketball after spending his career at Michigan.
The Jayhawks went 28-8 a season ago and won the Big 12 again. They won 13 out of 18 conference games, and went to the NCAA Tournament for the 33rd straight season. After beating Howard in the first round, the Jayhawks fell to Arkansas in the second round.
The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team lost Jalen Wilson and Gradey Dick from the team. Those two were big-time scorers and leaders for the team, but they are expected to be able to make up for it with their dominant big man, and experienced guards in Harris and McCullar.
Kansas will host this game and then Manhattan on Friday. The Jayhawks will then place at the Champions Classic in Chicago on the 14th of November against the Kentucky Wildcats.
