The Colorado Buffaloes will travel to Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the seventh-ranked Oregon Ducks in a Pac-12 Conference matchup. This season, the Buffaloes are 2-4 (1-3) and are coming off a 26-3 road loss against the California Bears. Freshman quarterback Brendon Lewis struggled a bit as he went 9-of-17 for 69 yards with an interception. The Ducks are 6-1 (3-1) thus far and are coming off a 34-31 road win over the UCLA Bruins. Senior quarterback Anthony Brown finished going 29-of-39 for 296 yards with a pair of interceptions.
Runner and Receiver
The Colorado Buffaloes are doing well running the football behind the sophomore running back. Jarek Broussard has been doing well as he has 84 carries for 337 yards (4.0 yards per rush), a pair of rushing touchdowns, and seven receptions for 48 yards (6.9 yards per catch). In his last game against the California Bears, Broussard struggled as he finished with 11 carries for 28 yards (2.5 yards per run) and three catches for 30 yards (10 yards per reception). If he can continue to be a dual-threat, the defense will have fits.
The Colorado Buffaloes have been a good defensive team as they are giving up 20.7 points per game. In their previous game against the California Bears, they allowed 26 points on 438 total yards of offense (225 passing, 213 rushings). The Bears did not convert much in the game as they went 6-of-15 on third down and converted their only fourth-down attempt. They also struggled against the run as they allowed 5.3 yards per carrying. It will be a good spot to compete if they can figure out how to defend a little more.
Get Rich or Dye Trying
The Oregon Ducks have been another solid rushing team as they have junior running back Travis Dye carrying the football. So far this season, he has 93 rushing attempts for 562 yards (6.0 yards per run) with eight rushing touchdowns and 19 receptions for 189 yards (9.9 yards per catch). In his last game against UCLA, he finished with 14 carries for 35 yards (2.5 yards per run) and four rushing touchdowns. If he can continue to find the end zone, it will be a great game for the Ducks.
This season, the Oregon Ducks have been a good defensive team as they are giving up 22.4 points per game. In their previous game against the UCLA Bruins, they allowed 31 points on 352 total yards of offense (242 passing, 110 rushings). The Bruins had a field day converting as they went 10-of-19 on third down and 5-of-7 on fourth down attempts. They also forced three turnovers (one fumble recovery, two interceptions) as they finished doing well defensively at those points. If they can continue getting turnovers, it will be an excellent spot to try to win here and climb the rankings.
Who to Bet
The Oregon Ducks are huge favorites here, with more than three touchdowns differentiating here on the spread. However, the Ducks are just 2-5 against the spread, so that scares me off them. The defenses are incredibly similar as the Buffaloes are giving up 20.7 points while the Ducks are allowing 22.4 points per game. Brendon Lewis is getting better as he has three touchdowns to two interceptions in his last three games, so go with the Colorado Buffaloes to cover here.
