Let’s see which team will take the win on this Gators at Wildcats betting preview.
The SEC is once again loaded with terrific teams, and two of the best in the conference are set to square off when the Kentucky Wildcats host the Florida Gators. Kentucky has a clear advantage of playing this game on their home turf, but Florida has proven that it can win anywhere.
Florida comes into this game with an overall record of 3-1, but they were just two points away from upsetting Alabama two weeks ago. The Gators are a team to watch as the season moves along, and they are still on track to reach the SEC Championship Game.
Kentucky has roared out to a perfect 4-0 start so far in 2021, but they have outscored their opponents by less than 14 points per game. This will be the toughest test of the year for the Wildcats, and it’s a chance for Kentucky to prove its worth.
The Florida Gators are 7.5-point favorites on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats in this SEC showdown.
Gators Get it Done on the Ground
The Florida Gators come into this matchup averaging over 322 rushing yards per game, and they just completely wear down their opponents. Quarterback Emory Jones leads the ground attack with 326 yards, but there is a whole stable of running backs looking to do some damage.
While Jones has been terrific running the football for the Gators, he hasn’t always played as well when he looks to throw. The quarterback has already thrown five interceptions through four games, and he will have to take care of the ball in this one.
Florida has held its opponents to less than 20 points per game, but the Gators will give up some big plays from time to time. Kentucky doesn’t pose a huge offensive threat, but the Gators have to find a way to make some big defensive plays.
Kentucky Looking to Chew Clock
If Kentucky is going to upset Florida on Saturday, then they have to find a way to win the time of possession battle. The Wildcats don’t have the talent or weapons to win this game in a shootout, but they have an offense that can move the football.
Running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. has given opponents fits all season long as he leads the team with 513 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Kentucky doesn’t run the football as well as Florida, but they aren’t too far behind.
The Wildcats aren’t going to take a ton of big shots down the field, but quarterback Will Levis has played well in 2021. Levis has thrown for 902 yards and seven touchdowns, and he could spark his team to a monster win.
Gators Grind Out a Win
Both teams can really get the job done on the defensive end of the field, and there won’t be a ton of big plays in this one. Most of the big plays will come from the Florida offense, and that should allow them to get some separation.
Kentucky has a defense that just doesn’t give up much on the ground, but the Wildcats are going to have to find a way to score as well. Turnovers have been a problem for Kentucky through four games, but they have yet to cost them a victory.
The under should be in play on Saturday, but Florida just has too much overall talent for the host Wildcats in this one. Take the 7.5 points and bet on the Kentucky Wildcats to keep this one close, but it will be the Florida Gators that pick up the win.
