Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Red Raiders at Sooners betting preview.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the fourth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in a Big 12 Conference matchup. This season, the Red Raiders are sitting at 5-3 (2-3) and are coming off a 25-24 home loss over the Kansas State Wildcats. Senior quarterback Henry Colombi had struggled a bit as he went 10-of-17 for 148 yards with an interception. The Sooners are a perfect 8-0 (5-0) and are coming off a 35-23 road win over the Kansas Jayhawks. Freshman quarterback Caleb Williams had a good game with 15-of-20 for 178 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
Double E
The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been doing well offensively, and junior wide receiver Erik Ezukanma has been doing well this season. So far this year, he has 32 receptions for 508 yards (15.9 yards per catch) and a touchdown through the air and five carries for 74 yards (14.8 yards per attempt), and a pair of rushing touchdowns. In his last game against Kansas State, he finished with one reception for three yards, two rushes for 45 yards (22.5 yards per carrying), and a rushing touchdown. If he can figure out how to be more involved, it will be an excellent sign for Texas Tech.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are struggling on the defensive side as they allow 30.6 points per game. In their last game against the Kansas State Wildcats, the Red Raiders gave up 25 points on 377 total yards of offense (296 passing, 81 rushings). They were getting stops on third down as Kansas State went 5-of-13 and converted on both of their fourth-down attempts. If Texas Tech can figure out how to limit the big play, it will be a great sign for them here to pull off the upset.
Ground and Pound
The Oklahoma Sooners have been running the ball very effectively this season, and junior running back Kennedy Brooks has been feasting this season. So far this year, he has 123 rushing attempts for 767 yards (6.2 yards per rush) with four touchdowns and four catches for 15 yards (3.8 yards per reception). In his last game against Kansas, Brooks finished with 24 rushes for 79 yards (3.3 yards per attempt) with a pair of touchdowns and a 24-yard reception.
The Oklahoma Sooners are doing a decent job on the defensive side of the field as they are giving up 24.6 points per game this year. In their previous game against the Kansas Jayhawks, they allowed 23 points on 412 total yards of offense (246 passing, 166 rushings). The Sooners need to get stops as the Jayhawks went 9-of-13 on third down and converted on their only fourth-down attempt. If they can figure out how to better defend big downs, it will help them remain undefeated.
Who to Bet on Red Raiders at Sooners
There is a reason why the Oklahoma Sooners are currently sitting at multiple touchdown favorites. They are the better program right now, even without Spencer Rattler under center for the Sooners. Caleb Williams has been throwing exceptionally well as he has eight touchdowns to one interception in his last three games. Texas Tech has failed to cover in their previous four road games against Oklahoma so go with the Oklahoma Sooners to cover the spread.
