The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is one of the biggest leagues in all of the country, and it is the biggest when it comes to college football. Football is king in the SEC, and this conference continues to make the rest of the country look foolish. Check the SEC Coaches Ranks Season 2022 below.
Because this conference has become dominated by college football, there is pressure on all of the coaches to deliver in a big way.
Schools aren’t afraid to fire coaches who fail to deliver championships, and some seats are getting hot. Before we take a look at some of those coaches, it’s important to look at how the SEC football season might shape up.
Here are the NCAAF odds to win the SEC Championship this season:
- Alabama -125
- Georgia +150
- Texas A&M +1200
- Ole Miss +2500
- Florida +3500
- LSU +3500
- Tennessee +4000
- Kentucky +4000
- Arkansas +5000
- Mississippi State +10000
- South Carolina +15000
- Auburn +15000
- Missouri +20000
- Vanderbilt +50000
Alabama and Georgia Winning Expectations
A handful of coaches in the SEC are extremely secure in their jobs and could likely go 0-12 and still come back next season.
Of course, those teams aren’t going to go 0-12, and several of them are going to be in the mix to reach the College Football Playoff.
Alabama and Georgia are expected to be two of the best teams in the country again this season, just as they were in 2021.
List of Coaches Who Have Their Position Secured
That makes Nick Saban and Kirby Smart extremely safe and secure in their jobs at Alabama and Georgia, respectively.
Jimbo Fisher of Texas A&M is another extremely secure coach, and he continues to climb up the ranks as one of the best coaches in the country.
Aggies fans love Fisher not only for the talent he brings to the school but also because he isn’t afraid to challenge Saban in the media.
Sam Pittman at Arkansas is another coach that is loved by his school, and he continues to turn things around for the Razorbacks. Mark Stoops has done a great job at Kentucky as well, and they aren’t going to get rid of him.
Colleges in the Coach Hunt
It’s almost impossible for some programs in this conference to compete with the likes of Alabama and Georgia, but schools continue to try and search for a coach that can get the job done.
Because of that, some coaches are going to enter the season on the hot seat based on what has happened in recent years.
Coaches Who Are in the Hot Seat
Eli Drinkwitz at Missouri might be the top pick to get fired at the end of this season, especially if he can’t get the Tigers to a bowl game. The Tigers are not in a position to compete for an SEC East title, but he simply has to be better.
Clark Lea guided Vanderbilt to a 2-10 record a season ago, and that is simply not good enough in this league. Vanderbilt is going to be bad again, but Lea has to find a way to pick up some more wins.
In the SEC West, Bryan Harsin and Mike Leach are on the hot seat at Auburn and Mississippi State, respectively.
Both of these schools have a proud football tradition, and a disappointing year might end the careers of each coach.
Coach 2022-23 Career Projection
A number of new or fairly new coaches have to produce in 2022, or they could be getting fired quickly into their careers. It’s unfair to ask coaches to win games almost immediately, but that’s exactly what will be asked.
2022-23 NCAAF Solid Season
Brian Kelly is taking over at LSU this season, and he will be expected to guide the Tigers to a great season right away.
Kelly won’t get fired after just one season, but he is going to come into this season with plenty of expectations.
Josh Heupel at Tennessee is another coach that simply has to turn things around in a hurry, or he will be replaced.
The Volunteers have been an absolute mess over the last decade, and it’s time to start winning some games.
Other SEC Coaches Ranks Season 2022 that could use a solid season are:
- Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss
- Billy Napier at Florida
- Shane Beamer at South Carolina.
