- The home team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings.
- Each team is 5-3 against the spread this season.
- Hawaii is 2-2 straight up at home, while Wyoming is 1-2 on the road this season.
The Wyoming Cowboys head to the tropical Hawaiian islands to take on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at 11:59 p.m. ET Saturday, the latest game on the NCAAF schedule. That’s how most games are on the Hawaii football schedule due to the time differential from the mainland United States.
It’s a Mountain West Conference battle featuring the Cowboys, who are 5-3 and 3-1 in conference play in second place in the Mountain Division behind Boise State, and the Rainbow Warriors, who are 2-6 and 1-2 sitting in second to last place in the West Division.
Wyoming vs Hawaii Odds
Team | Spread (Odds) | Moneyline (Odds) | Total = 50 (odds) |
Wyoming | -10 (-110) | -435 | Over (-110) |
Hawaii | +10 (-110) | +325 | Under (-110) |
Wyoming vs Hawaii odds show how little faith the oddsmakers have in the Rainbow Warriors. Being 10-point underdogs at home, a makeshift home after their usual stadium was deemed unsafe, for a team that is playing better of late is a little surprising. But Wyoming was expected to be better than the season they’re having, yet they’ve settled some early season issues to improve for league play and should be favored entering this game.

Wyoming’s Greatest Strength Will Play Well Against Hawaii
After a blowout loss at a surprisingly good Illinois team, Wyoming is rounding into shape and on the brink of bowl eligibility. The Cowboys have won consecutive games and five of their last seven with predictable losses to Brigham Young and San Jose State. Wyoming football stats show they are the 53rd-best rushing attack in the country, averaging 172.8 yards per game on the ground.
The rushing attack almost always translates well on the road, and they’re going up against one of the worst rush defenses in the country. That is necessary for a team that is one of the worst at passing the football, ranking 121st at 153.6 yards passing per game. The defense is average in general college football rankings but are above average for those just in the middle tier and outside the Power Five. Overall they are 59th in allowing 24.8 points per game while 99th in scoring 23.9 points per game.
Wyoming Cowboys Projected Lineup
All the regulars should be a go for the Wyoming Cowboys, with Andrew Peasley at quarterback and Titus Swen as the lead running back. Receivers Josh Cobbs, Wyatt Wieland, Treyton Welch, and Parker Christenson are also expected to be ready. Defensively, leading tackler Easton Gibbs is good to go, as is top corner Cameron Stone and pass rusher Devonne Harris.
Wyoming Cowboys Injuries
The Cowboys have just two players listed, with defensive end Sabastian Harsh out for the season for undisclosed reasons and wide receiver Gunner Gentry suffering a season-ending knee injury in September.
Hawaii Showing Improvements
It appears that the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors aren’t as bad as one thought. After a mass of transfers left the program bare for first-year coach and Hawaii legend Timmy Chang, he has rallied the Rainbow Warriors into a competitive football team. Since three straight blowout losses, Hawaii has lost a pair of games by a combined five points, won a couple, and then lost by a wide margin to New Mexico State.
That being said, Hawaii has really struggled in every facet of the game. Their rush defense ranks 126th while allowing 213.1 yards per game on the ground. While the pass defense is 61st, allowing 223.3 yards per game, the total defense is 111th, and Hawaii ranks 121st in defensive scoring, allowing 34.5 points per game.
Offensively they are 116th in total offense at 320.5 yards per game and 122nd in scoring at 18.1 points per game. They are 107th passing (190.6 yards per game) and 97th rushing at 129.9 yards per game.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Projected Lineup
There aren’t any expected absences at the moment. Quarterback Brayden Schager should start and hopes to improve upon a 57.9% completion percentage, and his four touchdown passes. Lead running back Dedrick Parson is averaging 4.5 yards per carry with ten rushing touchdowns.
Seven receivers have at least 15 catches, and all are expected to be good to go, with Zion Bowens averaging a team-best 14.7 yards per reception and is the only receiver with multiple touchdown grabs.
Defensively, leading tackler Penei Pavihi will anchor the line along with Jonah Kahahawai-Welch while defensive backs Virdel Edwards II and Malik Hausman look to improve on their five combined interceptions.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Injuries
Quarterback Cammon Cooper is out indefinitely for undisclosed reasons, and no update has been given since last week.
Wyoming Cowboys vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Pick and Prediction
Wyoming vs Hawaii odds are tricky because of how well the Rainbow Warriors have been playing and that they are 5-3 against the spread this season. One could say they’ve played better against subpar competition – Colorado State’s only two wins are in league play, Nevada is winless in the Mountain West, and San Diego State is 4-3 overall – but the results have been better. But there is a giant mismatch between Wyoming’s rushing offense and Hawaii’s rushing defense that will be exploited, and it could open up a Cowboys passing attack that has struggled.
For that reason, we’ll take the Cowboys to cover -10, but it may be a late night (or early morning) sweat for those who stay up. With it potentially being a blowout and the massive challenges facing the Hawaii offense, even against a middle-of-the-road defense, it could be a low-point total, so we’ll take the under 50 points with both teams expected to be running the ball and keeping the clock moving.
