Denver Broncos vs. San Francisco 49ers Betting Preview
The Denver Broncos, in the opening game, used Russell Wilson early in the game, and he looked fairly strong, throwing a touchdown pass in the game. The Broncos then used Ben DiNucci and Jarrett Stidham. The offense stalled a bit after the second quarter until the Jaleel McLaughlin touchdown run.
Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton both played in the game and combined to make five receptions and 75 yards. Jeudy caught the touchdown pass from Wilson. The Broncos defense sacked the Cardinals five times and also caused an interception in the game.
A season ago, the Broncos were one of the worst offensive teams in the league, led by head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Denver will wrap up their preseason play next week against the Rams, before hosting both the Raiders and then the Commanders in Week 2. The first road game for the Broncos comes in Week 3 at the Miami Dolphins.
49ers’ Silver Lining
The first preseason game was not pretty for the 49ers, but Kyle Shanahan is none too concerned at this point. The loss saw Vegas run and throw all over one of the best defenses in the league. The good news for San Francisco was the play of Trey Lance, who went 10 of 15 for 112 yards and a touchdown in the game.
After Lance, the quarterback play was not super strong, as Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen could not lead them to the end zone. Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle all sat out this game for the 49ers.
When those four play, and are all active, this is one of the best offenses in the league as well. Brock Purdy has been on and off the San Franciso 49ers injury report but is expected to be able to be active for the season opener.
San Francisco is at home for this game, and next week against the Chargers. Then, the 49ers start their regular season NFL schedule with two road games. San Francisco is at the Steelers and Rams, before hosting the Giants on September 21st.
