The Calgary Flames (4-2-0) are ready to travel to Winnipeg for their matchup against the Winnipeg Jets (2-1-1) at the Canada Life Center on Wednesday night. The Flames are having a nonsurprising, very solid preseason as they have only lost two games so far.
The Jets are having a very average preseason as they look to bond chemistry between the team while trying to find their true team leader.
Our Jets vs. Flames predictions tell us this should be an interesting matchup on the NHL schedule come Wednesday night.
Flames vs. Jets Last Game Records
The Flames are currently on a one-game winning streak after their recent win against the Seattle Kraken 4-1 in Calgary.
On the other hand, the Jets are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss against the Edmonton Oilers. This will be considered just slightly in our Jets vs. Flames prediction.

Calgary Flames vs. Winnipeg Jets Betting Analysis
Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames have been playing very solid hockey during the preseason, and this matchup against the Jets on Wednesday will be a very tough matchup for them.
The Flames recently beat the Seattle Kraken, and they are currently on a one-game winning streak. The Flames had some major shakeups to their lineup this off-season.
All-star forward Johnny Gaudreau, who led the Flames stats and recorded over 100 points last season, left and signed with Columbus Blue Jackets and Matthew Tkachuk also left as he signed with the Florida Panthers.
These players led the offense all season long last year, and they are very tough to replace. But Calgary did bring in their own firepower.
Flames’ Acquisition
The Flames acquired Jonathan Huberdeau from the Florida Panthers and Nazem Kadri from the Colorado Avalanche. Bringing these two players in was huge for Calgary, and their offense should be very solid yet again.
The Flames had a very good season last year as they finished in first place in their division, but they fell short to the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the playoffs.
The Flames have always had a terrific defense, and with Markstrom in the net, I believe they can beat any team in the league.
They will be a very exciting team to watch this season as they try to make their way back to the playoffs.
Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets are hoping for a better season this year after missing out on the playoffs last season. The Jets are currently on a one-game losing streak after their 3-2 shootout loss against Edmonton.
The Flames will be a tough test for the Jets come Wednesday night. The Jets did not make any massive moves this off-season, but they do have a leadership change.
2022-23 Season Without a Captain
The Jets have announced that they will have no captain in the 2022-2023 season as Blake Wheeler was stripped of his captaincy.
The Jets’ tenth overall draft pick in the 2020 NHL draft, Cole Perfetti, will be playing on the team this season, and he is a very skilled and speedy young forward.
Jets’ Best Player
Connor Hellebuyck has always been the Jets’ best player and is arguably one of the best goalies in the league.
For defense, the Jets struggle immensely, as Logan Stanley is most likely their best defenseman.
I personally do not see the Jets making the playoffs this season as they are in a stacked Central Division with teams like:
- St Louis
- Minnesota
- Avalanche
- Predators
The Jets do have a solid group of core players between:
- Blake Wheeler
- Mark Scheifele
- Kyle Connor
But they do not have enough overall depth to make a run this season, in my opinion.
Flames vs. Jets Betting Preview
The Jets odds as the underdogs at home are +114 while the away Flames are -134. The over/under is set at 5.5. On the puck line, Jets +1.5 goals is listed at -230, and Flames -1.5 goals is +190.
Calgary Flames vs. Winnipeg Jets Betting Prediction
Our Jets vs. Flames prediction for this matchup is the Calgary Flames to win. I believe the Flames are a much deeper team regardless if they are playing their big players or not.
The Jets just do not have a very deep team that can keep up, and they are much lower in the NHL Standings.
NHL Pick: Calgary Flames (-134)
