The second round of the playoffs is about halfway through. In the Western Conference, Dallas and Seattle are tied at two games apiece, as are Vegas and Edmonton. Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, Florida and Carolina hold 3-1 series leads over Toronto and New Jersey, respectively.
Here are your 2023 Stanley Cup Odds as of 10 AM ET on May 11.
Carolina Hurricanes +280
The Carolina Hurricanes can punch their ticket to the second round with a win at home on Wednesday. They’ve dominated even without some of their top offensive weapons in Teuvo Teravainen, Andrei Svechnikov, and Max Pacioretty. Without those three, many wrote Carolina out of their NHL predictions for the postseason, but so far, the team has silenced critics.
Frederik Andersen is creeping his way into Conn Smythe contention with his stellar play in net, role players are stepping up to chip in (Jordan Martinook has nine points in the series with New Jersey alone), and Carolina is limiting opponents to a league-best 27.7 shots per game.
Edmonton Oilers +380
The Edmonton Oilers are the highest-scoring team of the NHL playoffs, averaging 3.90 goals per game. Leon Draisaitl has 13 goals through 10 games, leading all playoff scorers. He’s also tallied 18 points, also a playoff lead, but teammate Connor McDavid is nipping at his heels with 17 points of his own.
Edmonton will need to win at least one more game on the road to advance, but the Oilers won 27 road games in the regular season, the most of any team in the Pacific Division and second-most of any Western Conference team.
Florida Panthers +425
The NHL schedule for playoffs hasn’t been kind to Florida Panthers, but they’ve just kept rolling. Clinching the final playoff spot in the league on the last day of the regular season and then rallying from a 3-1 series deficit against the President’s Trophy-winning Boston Bruins has galvanized the team. The Panthers will be a tough out.
Dallas Stars +600
Dallas Stars dominates the faceoff dot, and their high win percentage through all zones gives them a ton of opportunity to dictate the tempo and shift the ice.
Jake Oettinger may be the most talented goaltender remaining, and if he can stay dialed in like he was in Game Four, he could carry the Stars the rest of the way. From a value standpoint, Dallas may be the best pick for your 2023 Stanley Cup odds.
Vegas Golden Knights +650
Nearly dead even with Dallas is the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas’ team defense is solid, they have high-end star power in Jack Eichel and Mark Stone, but the goaltending is a bit concerning.
Laurent Brossoit is injured, Adin Hill only has one career playoff start, that being Game Four, and Logan Thompson is still injured as well. With a healthy squad, these NHL odds would increase dramatically.
Toronto Maple Leafs +1200
Toronto was able to stave off elimination on Wednesday night, escaping with a 2-1 win over Florida. The Toronto Maple Leafs have been thoroughly outplayed in the second round, and star forwards Auston Matthews and John Tavares have both been held without a goal in the series.
The same was true for William Nylander and Mitch Marner until Game Four. If their top NHL players can get things going, Toronto has the talent to survive and advance, but will they run out of time?
Seattle Kraken +1500
Seattle has good NHL team stats throughout the playoffs, as their physical play style travels well. However, injuries are starting to become a factor. Philipp Grubauer’s performance in Game Five will likely indicate Seattle’s ceiling.
If he can steal a game on the road once again, the Seattle Kraken may be able to keep pushing. But if he regresses to his .890 save percentage from the regular season, Seattle will be done in short order.
New Jersey Devils +2200
Closing out the 2023 Stanley Cup odds is the New Jersey Devils, who are up against elimination on Thursday. NHL player stats show the once-potent Devils offense ranking last among remaining playoff teams in shot generation (28.1 shots per game).
The young squad has sky-high potential over the next few seasons, but they seem destined for the golf course by the weekend.
