The Seattle Kraken (9-15-3) will travel to Anaheim on Wednesday to face the Anaheim Ducks (16-9-5). The game is scheduled to begin at 8 P.M. EST at the Honda Center.
Anaheim has enjoyed a terrific season en route to first place in the Pacific Conference. The Ducks last played on Sunday, where they defeated the Blues 3-2.
Meanwhile, Seattle is in last place in the Pacific and has struggled to get things going all year. The Kraken play the Sharks on Tuesday night and will then turn around and face Anaheim as part of a back-to-back on Wednesday night.
Kraken at Ducks Betting Analysis
On the Kraken side
The Kraken have labored in their first year of existence. While this was to be expected, they have displayed signs of potential.
Jordan Eberle and Jared McCann have shown promise, with Eberle leading the team with 12 goals, and McCann has impressed with 11. Jaden Schwartz has been a playmaker, with his team-leading 13 assists and six goals.
While Seattle is still developing stars, they do have some current players with somewhat high ceilings. The offense has been decent as they rank 18th in goals scored and 20th in assists. While those rankings are far from elite, they are certainly not the worst in the NHL.
The real issue has been on the defensive end.
The Kraken rank 30th in goals allowed with a total of 97. Both of their goalies, Phillipp Grubauer and Chris Driedger, are both allowing over three goals per game, and both players have compiled a save percentage of below 85 percent.
Seattle will need to add some defensive help in the coming seasons if they want to be competitive.
On the Ducks side
The Ducks lead the Pacific and have performed in almost the polar opposite manner of Seattle.
Anaheim ranks within the top 10 in goals and assists. Troy Terry has emerged as a true scorer, with his team-leading 17 goals. The effort of Ryan Getzlaf should not be overlooked with his astounding 19 assists.
Goalie John Gibson is 11-7 and has a 2.57 GAA and a .918 save percentage. It should be noted that he is currently dealing with a lower-body injury.
The Ducks have been fairly mediocre in terms of goals allowed, as they rank 17th with 79 goals surrendered.
Anaheim is a team that takes advantage of opportunities when they are presented. The Ducks rank fifth in power-play percentage and third in penalty kill percent. Their ability to not let opportunities slide has been a major reason for their success in 2021.
The Ducks will look to keep rolling against the lowly Kraken in this Wednesday matchup.
Kraken at Ducks Prediction
Top sportsbooks favor the Ducks in this matchup.
Even with John Gibson dealing with an injury, the Ducks offense should carry them to the victory on Wednesday. While it is technically possible for the last place Kraken to pull off the upset, I would not count on it.
Take the Anaheim Ducks -1.5.
