The New York Rangers (18-7-3) travel to Arizona to battle the Coyotes (5-20-2) on Wednesday at the Gila River Arena in Arizona. The game is scheduled to begin at 9 P.M. EST.
The Rangers are in third place in the Metropolitan Division but have dropped two consecutive games, including a 4-2 loss against Colorado on Tuesday.
Arizona is in last place in the Central and is in the midst of a five-game losing streak. They will attempt to upset the Rangers on Wednesday night.
Rangers at Coyotes Betting Preview
Arizona Coyotes Preview: Snap the Skid
Arizona’s season has been nothing short of a disaster. They rank 32nd in goals scored, 31st in assists, and 31st in goals surrendered. Finding a bright spot has been difficult for this team.
Clayton Keller has been solid with a team-leading six goals and 11 assists. Shayne Gostisbehere leads Arizona with 13 assists.
Goalie Scott Wedgewood has a record of just 3-8, but he is allowing under three goals per game with a .906 save percentage. Wedgewood is a player who has displayed potential but hasn’t received much help from his teammates around him.
The Coyotes would love to snap their current five-game skid, but doing so against the impressive New York Rangers will be difficult. The team also has six players dealing with various injury ailments, which will complicate matters even further.
Arizona is clearly in rebuilding mode, but the motivation to get a win after losing five straight contests should lead to a gritty performance by the Coyotes in this matchup.
New York Rangers Preview: Take Care of Business
The Rangers have had a successful 2021 campaign up to this point.
The team has been fairly mediocre on offense, as they rank 16th in goals scored and 18th in total assists. Chris Kreider has been very effective with 17 goals to lead the Rangers. He has been the go-to guy on offense for New York.
Goalie Igor Shesterkin has led the defense, which ranks 8th in goals surrendered. Shesterkin has compiled a 13-3 record with an astounding 2.05 GAA and a .937 save percentage. At times this season, he has appeared dominant.
There is no question New York would not be where they are today if it was not for him.
The Rangers should be able to take care of business against this lowly Coyotes squad.
Who to Bet on Rangers at Coyotes
Despite playing on the road, the Rangers are the favorites in this game. They have been the better team by far, especially on defense.
There is certainly a chance of an Arizona breakout based on pure frustration from all of the losing they have been doing over the past couple of weeks. Also, Shesterkin is dealing with a lower-body injury and is questionable for this contest. If he is inactive, the Coyotes could find more scoring opportunities on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, I am rolling with New York to earn the victory in Arizona on Wednesday night.
Take the New York Rangers -1.5.
