Blues at Penguins Betting Preview
St. Louis Blues Preview: Offensive Dominance
The Blues have been one of the best offensive teams in the NHL as they are fifth in the league averaging 3.45 goals per game. One of the franchise’s biggest strengths has been the ability to score on the power play as they score on 29.5 percent of their power plays.
They are being led offensively by right-winger Vladimir Tarasenko as he has 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists). Tarasenko has been on fire as of late as he has 10 points in his last five games. If the offense can continue to run through him here, they will be able to remain a force offensively.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington has been playing decently well this season as he is 10-6-3 with 2.89 goals allowed and a .910 save percentage with a shutout under his belt. In his previous game against the Minnesota Wild, Binnington had given up four goals on 33 shot attempts. St Louis is tied for fifth in penalty kills at 83.9 percent, so they will be able to stop the man advantage against them.
Pittsburgh Penguins Preview: Creative Header
Pittsburgh has been an average offense this season as their 3.16 goals per game is 12th in the NHL so far. They do put a lot of pressure on the opposing goaltenders as they are currently seventh in the league with 1,090 shot attempts this season.
Left-winger Jake Guentzel is reading the Penguins with 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists). He has recorded 11 points in his last five games, so if he can continue playing extremely well, it will do wonders for the Penguins.
Tristan Jarry will be inside of the net for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he has been playing very well this season as he is 15-5-4 with a .932 save percentage and allowing 1.93 goals per game, including three shutouts. In his last game against the New Jersey Devils, Jarry allowed a pair of goals on 19 shots. The Penguins are the best team in hockey at killing penalties at 91 percent, so best at scoring on the power play against best at stopping; it will definitely be an entertaining watch.
Who to Bet on Blues at Penguins
As of this writing, the St Louis Blues are listed as +120 on the moneyline according to some of the top sportsbooks in the nation. This seems to be the better play as the Blues are playing well and should be able to take down the red-hot Penguins here. Tristan Jarry is not going to be able to kill penalties as well as he has been this season against one of the top offensive teams in the entire league. St Louis has won six of the previous eight road games against Pittsburgh so go with the St Louis Blues to win this game as well.
