The Winnipeg Jets (13-9-4) and Vancouver Canucks (10-15-2) will battle on Friday, December 10th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. The game is scheduled to begin at 10 P.M. EST.
The Jets rank fifth in the Central and fresh off of a victory against the Kraken on Thursday. Vancouver ranks 7th in the Pacific but they have won two games in a row including a recent victory against the Bruins.
Jets at Canucks Betting Preview
Canucks Preview: J.T. Miller to the Rescue
The Canucks have dealt with underperformance and injuries all season. Yet, they continue to trudge on and have played quality hockey over their past couple of games.
One player who has stood out for Vancouver is J.T. Miller. The veteran has scored 9 goals and 17 assists to pace the team. He is seemingly in the middle of every Canucks scoring opportunity with his 26 overall points.
The former first-round pick is a player to keep an eye on in this matchup.
Quinn Hughes has also played a big role for Vancouver as he leads the team with 19 assists.
Goalie Thatcher Demko has recorded a 10-11 record with a 2.73 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
Overall, the team ranks near the back half of the league in goals, assists, and goals surrendered. While they have some talented pieces, the Canucks have unquestionably failed to click as a unit.
But J.T. Miller and Vancouver will look to utilize the momentum from their previous two consecutive wins and defeat Winnipeg at home on Friday night.
Jets Preview: Find Consistency
The Jets earned a quality victory on Thursday night in a 3-0 win over the Kraken. They will look to carry the confidence boost from that impressive performance into Friday’s game.
Kyle Connor has been vital to Winnipeg’s success so far in 2021. The sixth-year player has scored 15 goals to go along with 12 assists. Similar to the aforementioned J.T. Miller, Connor is always right in the middle of the action for the Jets.
Connor Hellebuyck has totaled a 9-7 record protecting the net for Winnipeg. He has also contributed a 2.77 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
The Jets rank right in the middle of the majority of statistical categories from a team perspective. They rank 15th in goals scored, 13th in goals allowed, and 14th in total assists.
The Jets currently rank 5th in the Central and their postseason chances are still in play. But they will want to develop more consistency on both offense and defense if they wish to establish themselves as true contenders.
Who to Bet on Jets at Canucks
The majority of sportsbooks favor the Canucks by around 1.5 goals on Friday night. Despite playing on the road, Winnipeg has been the better team and is coming off of a tremendous win on Thursday which could lead to an underdog win.
I could see this game coming down to the wire and not getting decided until the third period. Vancouver has the advantage of being well rested since they last played on Wednesday. They also have not had to travel in a while as they are in the midst of a homestand.
Meanwhile, the Jets will travel from Seattle on Thursday and head up to Vancouver for this Friday night matchup.
But even with all of that, expect the Jets to emerge victorious in this game. They are almost fully healthy and the more talented team overall. Meanwhile, the Canucks have six players dealing with various injuries and have not won three consecutive games this season.
Take the Jets -1.
