The Europa League bracket 2023 is down to the final four teams: Juventus, Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen and Roma. The semifinals are set for this and next Thursday with the final scheduled for May 31 in Budapest, Hungary. The semifinals are two-legged and the winner of the Europa League gets an automatic berth to next year’s Champions League. Let’s take a look at the 2023 Europa League winning odds to maximize your experience.
Juventus the Favorites
The 2023 Europa League winning odds will change after the first leg, Heading into the semifinals, Juventus have the best 2023 Europa League odds at +185. Bayer Leverkusen are next at +250, Roma at +300 and Sevilla at +350.
In the Europa League fixtures list, Juventus are facing Sevilla with the first leg in Italy on May 11 and the second leg in Spain on May 18. Roma will be at home in the first leg May 11 against Bayer Leverkusen with the second leg in Germany on May 18.
Since dropping down to Europa from the Champions League, Juventus has found their gear. They beat Nantes 3-0 in the second leg of the playoff round and then had shutouts against SC Freiburg in both games of the round of 16. Juventus blanked Sporting for a fourth straight shutout and drew the second leg 1-1 to advance.
The former Italian champions are in second place in Serie A and Europa League represents their last chance for a trophy this season.
Bayer and Roma Need This Title
Bayer Leverkusen and Roma face off in the semifinals with the second and third-best 2023 Europa League winning odds. Both teams currently sit outside the Champions League and Europa League spots for next year in their domestic leagues and need to win this title to grab the guaranteed Champions League berth for 2023-24.
Leverkusen dropped down from Champions League this year after a third-place finish in their group. In the playoff round, they beat AS Monaco on penalties after splitting 3-2 games, and then they shut out Ferencvaros 2-0 in both legs. In the quarterfinals, they crushed Union Saint-Gilloise 4-1 in the second leg to reach the semifinals.
Roma finished second in their Europa League group with 10 points and is the only team left that didn’t start in the Champions League this year. They beat Red Bull Salzburg in the knockout round with a 2-1 aggregate win and then knocked off Real Sociedad in the round of 16 with a 2-0 win and a 0-0 draw. In the quarterfinals, they used added time to beat Feyenoord 4-2 on aggregate.
Sevilla Are the Long Shots
Looking at past Europa League stats and results, Spanish side Sevilla have had the most success in this tournament in recent years. They have claimed six Europa League titles since 2006, including three straight wins from 2014-16 and another title in 2020.
They have had the worst domestic season out of these four teams, sitting in 11th place in La Liga. Hence the long 2023 Europa League winning odds. But they have made a great run in this competition, knocking off PSV Eindhoven, Fenerbahce, and Manchester United to reach the semifinals.
The 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in the first leg against Manchester United last month should give Sevilla confidence going into Turin. However, they will likely find scoring against Juventus much more difficult as the Italian side has allowed just two goals in their last six European contests.
Juventus is the only one of these four teams likely to qualify for next year’s Champions League without winning this competition. Bayer and Roma could return to Europa League, drop down to the Conference League, or have no European competition next year. Meanwhile, Sevilla have no other chance to get the financial windfall of a European contest next year than to upset Juventus and then win another EL title at the end of May.
