The Mutua Madrid Open, a clay court tournament, is an ATP/WTA 1000 event held annually at the Caja Magica. It was once a hard-court event but has been played on clay since 2009. Rafael Nadal, unsurprisingly, is the most accomplished player in Mutua Madrid Open stats with five titles. He isn’t playing this year, however.
Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka headline the women’s field, with Ons Jabeur withdrawing from Mutua Madrid Open odds just before the start of the tournament.

Past Champions in the Field
ATP
Carlos Alcaraz, who has the shortest tennis odds to win the Madrid Open predictions, won the tournament in 2022 by defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-1 in the final. Zverev is a two-time champion himself, having won in 2021 and 2018.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has the second-shortest odds for the second clay court tournament of the tennis schedule, was a finalist in 2019.
WTA
Jabeur’s absence is notable as she’s the defending Madrid Open predictions champion. The Tunisian star beat Jessica Pegula in last year’s final.
Sabalenka, who has the second-shortest odds, beat now-retired Ashleigh Barty in the 2021 finals. Petra Kvitova is a three-time champion, having won in 2018, 2015, and 2011.
2023 ATP Mutua Madrid Picks
ATP Favorite – Carlos Alcaraz (-110)
Alcaraz has a chance to reclaim the No. 1 spot in the tennis standings with a win in Madrid. The 2022 US Open winner was injured to start the season but is a favorite for the Madrid Open predictions for good reason.
He’s coming off of a win at the Barcelona Open, reached the semifinals at the Miami Open, and won at Indian Wells. Not surprisingly, Alcaraz is the favorite to win the French Open at +150.
ATP Best-Value Pick – Casper Ruud (+2000)
Despite a disappointing result in Barcelona, where he lost in the Round of 16, Casper Ruud is a smart pick in Madrid. The talented Norwegian has a bye into the Round of 64 as the No. 3 seed in the tournament and has a relatively favorable draw.
He’ll play the winner of a match involving a pair of qualifiers and, should he win, will meet either Tallon Griekspoor or Thanasi Kokkinakis/Jaume Munar. Lorenzo Musetti is perhaps his biggest threat to advancing to the semifinals.
2023 WTA Mutua Madrid Picks
WTA Favorite – Iga Swiatek (+105)
Swiatek, the defending champion, has been dominant once again this season. She’s quickly becoming the Queen of Clay with two French Open titles in the last three years and is the No. 1 seed in this year’s tournament.
She’s coming off a championship at the Stuttgart Open and reached the semifinals at Indian Wells in March.
WTA Best-Value Pick – Jessica Pegula (+1800)
It’s hard to bet against Swiatek on clay, but it’s not as if she’s unbeatable. For a better value in the Madrid Open predictions, Jessica Pegula at +1800 is a great tennis picks.
The American, who reached the final in 2022, is the No. 3 seed in this year’s tournament. She has reached at least the semifinals in four of her last five events and was a quarter-finalist at the Australian Open.
