With the world opening up more for UFC events to take place, MMA fans will be treated to the first ever UFC card in France on September 3. Headlining this historic event will be a heavyweight matchup between Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa.
On a card full of exciting matchups, I have two UFC picks to make in a parlay to win easy money this weekend.
Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori Fight Analysis
Robert Whittaker Analysis
Robert Whittaker (23-6) is one of the best middleweight fighters to ever step foot inside the UFC octagon. He is in a weird moment of history where he would be a dominant champion if there were no such thing as Israel Adesanya.
This UFC parlay pick was easy to make in this first leg. Whittaker was a dominant champion, and the only person to give him any issues has been an elite striker.
Is Vettori Enough Competition for Whittaker?
Vettori does not present any danger to Whittaker on the feet, and Whittaker has some elite wrestling to combat any takedowns attempted by the Italian.
I think Whittaker is on a different level than Vettori, and he is going to give the UFC a tough decision on what is next for him knowing he is already 0-2 against the champion and has beaten everybody else at the top of the division.
Marvin Vettori Analysis
One thing that we know about Marvin Vettori is that he is relentless. He will work harder than anyone to become UFC middleweight champion before it is all said and done.
You can never count him out of any fight based on his will to win. He just lacks the skill that Whittaker has as a martial artist. UFC odds have Vettori as an underdog at +185 going into this weekend.
This is a fair line because Vettori has an aggressive style with solid wrestling and the ability to control opponents on the ground. But I think he will not have what it takes to beat Whittaker in 15 minutes on Saturday night.
What Are Vettori Struggles?
Vettori also has some issues with elite strikers, and again, styles make fights. Just to justify my pick some more, I believe Whittaker might even finish Vettori in this one.
Imagine if Whittaker TKO’s Vettori sends that message to the UFC. What else do they have for him?
UFC Parlay Pick: Robert Whittaker to win -230
Charles Jourdain vs. Nathaniel Wood
Charles Jourdain Analysis
This is my sleeper fight of the event in France this weekend. Jourdain is coming off an awesome scrap with former UFC fighter Shane Burgos in July, where he put Burgos in danger multiple times but unfortunately did not come away with the victory.
Jourdain is a Canadian martial artist that is only 26 years old and has 12 finishes in his pro MMA career. UFC odds have him as a slight favorite at -140. I believe this is some of the best odds you can get on this card for a fighter.
Jourdain’s Advantage
Jourdain is much bigger and stronger than Wood and will be able to use that as his advantage in wrestling exchanges.
UFC picks are usually tough to make when odds are this close, but I think we are getting a steal out of Charles Jourdain on Saturday.
He has solid power for the featherweight division with above-average boxing that can catch Nathaniel Wood clean on the chin a lot in a short period of time or between takedown attempts.
Nathaniel Wood Analysis
Nathaniel Wood will have a slight home-field advantage this weekend with him being from Europe and having a solid fan base around there. But I think Wood has a big test in Charles Jourdain.
He can be hurt from just about every area of the octagon and will have a tough time dominating on the ground against someone as big and strong as Jourdain.
A Big UFC Parlay for this Weekend
A UFC parlay with these odds is a big play for this weekend, and I believe that Wood could be a great pick for a parlay as well. He is a very solid wrestler with a lot of hype coming out of the UK.
But Wood has gotten finished four times in his MMA career, and I believe that he might be KO’d on Saturday. It will be tough to stop Jourdain, coming off an exciting fight with a lot of confidence.
UFC Parlay Pick: Charles Jourdain (-140)
UFC Parlay Verdict
My UFC parlay pick is a solid pair of great fighters that should come out victorious but also have decent value.
The parlay of Whittaker and Jourdain will have the odds of about +144 this weekend. That is some serious value on two pretty easy picks to make/
- Robert Whittaker -230
- Charles Jourdain -140
UFC Parlay Pick: Two-Legged Parlay (+144)
