The CFL schedule has not been doing the best job of giving us great games to start off our week. But that has finally changed!
CFL Performance Recap
In the battle of the west division, two of the teams that are gunning for that top spot take center stage Thursday night in Manitoba.
Ka’Deem Carey and the Calgary Stampeders (6-3) head to the city of champions to face off against Zach Collaros and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-1)!
With both of these ball clubs being within a game and a half of each other, this game can truly turn the tide!
The Blue Bombers vs. Stampeders Betting Predictions are down below.
Teams Previous Scoreboards
The Calgary Stampeders are fresh off a much-needed win. While they may have been Toronto by a score of 22-19, there were some interesting roster shifts the coaching staff decided to make.
They benched starting quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell in favor of Jake Maier. Will that be the case this week as well?
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are finally off a much-needed bye week. They are fresh off their first loss of the year.
Many believed they should have won, but due to poor field goal kicking, they found themselves in an OT loss with a score of 20-17 versus the Montreal Alouettes. Will they be able to find that momentum back?
Stampeders vs. Bombers Betting Analysis
Stampeders Analysis
This is now Calgary’s time to strike! With the horrible news coming out of BC and they face a team that is fresh off their first loss, this is a week Calgary can take advantage of!
They currently stand in third but this win can go a long way and makes them an intriguing choice among CFL picks!
So far this year, the Stampeders are 0-2 against the Blue Bombers. They have been outscored a combined total of 14 points in those two games.
Struggling Defense
So where did they go wrong in those games? The issue was their defense, as they did not have an answer for Winnipeg at all. In their second matchup, they had zero sacks the whole game! What was successful, however, was, of course, Ka’Deem Carey.
The former NFL running back put up 200 rushing yards in two games against Winnipeg as he tagged along two majors as well! He has been dominating Winnipeg as they have had no answer for him!
But the question is will they be able to win without their star? Ka’Deem Carey has been hurt but he did practice on Monday after he hurt his hamstring.
He will likely be fine but they must find other playmakers because once Winnipeg finds the answer to Carey, there will likely be a minimal success.
Blue Bombers Analysis
Down goes the king! It is a huge deal that Winnipeg is no longer undefeated as they finally got caught on their Achilles heel!
Luckily the reason for their demise was kicking so it is not a huge overhaul of the roster! But this game is huge for their momentum.
After beating Calgary twice, they have found an excellent way to exploit this team as they will likely use the same gameplan.
Consistent Success
Where they found consistent success was letting QB Zach Collaros do his thing! He abused Calgary as in both games he tallied nearly 600 yards passing and tossed six majors which is one of the key CFL stats when analyzing this matchup! Why not let it fly!
Where they struggled was getting pressure on the quarterback. While they have done an excellent job at limiting yards, they have only two sacks in two games against Calgary.
Blue Bombers Defense
For this defense, it is truly unacceptable. They need to get more sacks to ensure this victory! The question for Winnipeg is have they found a solution at kicker?
Sure, it might seem petty but it cost them the game TWICE last week so it is a fair thing to bring up. This is huge on the mental side of the game and they will need to fix their kicking if they hope to come out with the win!
Team Updates
Key injuries for the Stampeders: WR Richie Sindani DNP with a hamstring injury.
Key injuries for the Blue Bombers: WR Gregg Ellingson DNP with a hip injury.
Betting Trends
- Calgary is 4-5 ATS
- Winnipeg is 7-3 ATS
- The Stampeders’ point differential is +58
- The Blue Bombers’ point differential is +85
Calgary Stampeders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers Betting Preview
The key component that will likely contribute to the win for either club will be the run defenses. With both clubs having efficient run games, without the run game, both teams lose a huge part of their identity. The club that can handle the run game the best will emerge victorious!
So who does Las Vegas favor? To nobody’s surprise, the CFL odds are in favor of the reigning champs. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are favored to win by three and a half points!
The Blue Bombers vs. Stampeders Betting Predictions are next!
Calgary Stampeders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers Betting Prediction
The champ is here! The coaching staff for Calgary does not seem certain about their choice at quarterback. That is concerning, seeing as Winnipeg has owned that QB room this year.
Bombers’ Offense
The Bombers’ offense will hit its stride and start finding the end zone again this week! The Bombers will emerge victorious and find themselves covering the spread! Bet Winnipeg -3.5.
CFL Pick: Blue Bombers -3.5
