The PGA Tour moves to Florida following the West Coast Swing of January and February. The Cognizant Classic will take place this weekend in Palm Beach Garden Florida. The PGA National Resort and Spa is the home course for this event. The par is 70 and the course is more than 7,100 yards. This has been the course for this event since 2007. Before that was at the Country Club at Mirasol; also in Palm Beach Gardens. Palm Beach Gardens is just outside Miami.
Cognizant Classic Picks
- Pick: Rory McIlroy +650.
This event has been given several different names over the years. From 2002 – 2023 it was named The Honda Classic. It changed to the Cognizant Classic, as they were named the new title sponsor. Justin Leonard has the course record, as he went -24 under par back in 2003. A season ago, Chris Kirk was the winner. The previous season it was Sepp Straka. No one has gone back to back since 1977 and 1978 when Jack Nicklaus won it, known as the Jackie Gleason-Iverray Classic.
Here is our Cognizant Classic betting preview, alongside of a quick analysis of the scores and odds available at BetUS:
Cognizant Classic Predictions
Rory Mcllroy +650
When looking at the updated Cognizant Classic 2024 Odds, Rory is at the top at +650. He is the #2 ranked golfer in the world. The 34 year old is coming off a tie for 24th place last time out at the Riviera Country Club for the Genesis Invitational. All of the golf stats you can find show that he continues to be an elite golfer. That is part of the reason he is the favorite in South Florida.
Cameron Young +2000
Looking down the golf ranks, Cameron Young sits right behind Justin Thomas and right ahead of Tony Finau. The 26-year-old from New York played his college golf at Wake Forest and has been on tour since 2019. He finished in a tie for 16th at the Genesis. Young also was Top 10 at the WM Phoenix Open. He can get hot in a flash, so look out for him, especially at his +2000 odds.
Russell Henley +2500
Henley comes into this event just inside the Top 30 on the PGA Tour rankings. Henley is another American, from Georgia, and has been on tour for over a dozen years now. He also played at the Genesis and finished tied for 24th with Mcllroy. Henley started his season strong with a fourth-place finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, which netted him nearly $400,000 in winnings. So far this season, he is well over $500,000.
Matt Fitzpatrick +2500
Fitzpatrick comes into the event ranked 9th in on the PGA Tour rankings. The 29-year-old from England, who has been a professional since 2014 played his college golf at Northwestern. Fitzpatrick is a very hot or cold golfer. He has been good in two events this season, with top 15 finishes at the Sentry and the Phoenix Open, but missed the cut at the Sony Open and recently at the Genesis.
Tom Kim +3000
Tom Kim comes into the event at +3000 odds to win it. The South Korean is 6’0 but can hit the ball a mile. He finished tied for 24th at the Genesis, which seems to be a theme for many of the golfers in this event. Kim has finished in the Top 45 in four out of five events this season, but nothing better than a Top 17 finish in Phoenix. It will be interesting to see what happens with the 21-year-old here, as the sky is the limit with his talent.
