Carnage and resulting hospital trips helped provide unexpected MotoGP results. With Aprilla’s Aleix Espargaró emerging from the mess at Circuit de Barcelona-Cataluyna with his second win in the three races. Maverick Viñales, Jorge Martin, Johann Zarco, and Miguel Oliveira completed the top five at the Catalan Grand Prix.
As a result of last week’s race, Insiders Betting Digest is looking beyond Francesco Bagnaia for our winner in our San Marino GP predictions.

MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix Betting Preview and Prediction
Francesco Bagnaia – Ducati
Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia features in our San Marino GP predictions despite suffering a terrifying crash last weekend. Bagnaia has a 50-point lead atop the MotoGP standings, built upon five race wins and seven top-two Grand Prix finishes – with three DNFs – but he might not be at his peak after being run over by Brad Binder in Barcelona.
Ducati has confirmed that Francesco Bagnaia will attempt to race this weekend in Misano. First, he must pass a medical check on Thursday to be granted access to compete.
Enea Bastianini will not be replaced this weekend, meaning Bagnaia will fly solo.

While Bagnaia needs to clear a medical exam on Thursday, if he’s racing on Sunday, he’ll be in the mix to win and among many peoples’ MotoGP picks to win his third consecutive San Marino Grand Prix.
Jorge Martin – Ducati
If there was ever a time for Jorge Martin to close the gap to Bagnaia, it’s now, and he needs to win, especially if Bagnaia isn’t 100% come Sunday. Martin is second in the Riders’ Championship, needing another dominant weekend like Germany – where he won the Sprint and Grand Prix – to take advantage of the Championship leader’s potential dip in form.
Martin finished third in the Catalan Grand Prix – his seventh top-five finish this season – and has finished in the top ten in every race and sprint he’s finished this season (nine top-ten finishes, two DNFs), meaning he’ll be in the mix to win.
Aleix Espargaró – Aprilla Racing
Aprilla’s Aleix Espargaró is fifth in the Rider’s Championship. But his recent form has him jumping Brad Binder and Marco Bezzecchi in our San Marino GP predictions.

Espargaró has five top-five and eight top-ten finishes in 2023. However, he’s scored three top-three finishes – including two race wins – in the last four races.
