Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders Analysis
Arizona Cardinals’ Adaptations: Can They Defy the Odds without Kyler?
The expectations for the Arizona Cardinals are rock bottom. Kyler Murray remains injured, and the guys behind him are not ready to go. The Cardinals drafted offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. out of Ohio State to keep the offensive line afloat this season.
BJ Ojulari, an outside linebacker from LSU, was their second-round pick. Back to Murray – he is a long way away from the years when he was hyped at the beginning of the season, even garnering several NFL MVP Odds votes!
The Cardinals will roll with Joshua Dobbs under center. He will get the start over rookie Clayton Tune. Dobbs is a 28-year-old out of the University of Tennessee. Looking at the NFL team stats, he has thrown 85 passes in his NFL career, two for touchdowns and three interceptions.
Arizona did not load him with super-talented receivers, but Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore, and Greg Dortch will do their best. Brown is the leading returner now that DeAndre Hopkins is in Tennessee. Brown had 709 yards and three touchdowns last season.
James Conner will be the lead running back. He will start ahead of Keaontay Ingram and Emai Demercado. Last season, Conner finished the season with more than 780 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.
Washington Commanders: The Era of Sam Howell Begins.
For Washington Commanders games, they are also going with an inexperienced quarterback under center. The Commanders have announced that Sam Howell will get the nod. Howell was named the starter over Jacoby Brissett.
Howell is a 22-year-old out of North Carolina. He was chosen in the fifth round as the 144th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Howell threw 19 passes last season, and one went for a touchdown and one for an interception.
Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson should lead the charge at running back. Both were part of the Commanders’ backfield a season ago.
Robinson Jr. finished with 797 yards and just two touchdowns, while Antonio Gibson saw his NFL player stats at 546 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Commanders will lean heavily this season on Robinson Jr. and know he is capable of much more than last season.
Washington brings back Terry McLaurin as the top receiver. A season ago, he finished with 1,191 yards and five touchdowns. Jahan Dotson led the team in touchdown receptions with seven.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders Betting Picks
The Arizona Cardinals are going to be dreadful. The quarterback situation is not good. The receiving room is not all that talented, the defense is poor, and the running backs are not in the upper half of the league.
Washington will win this game and get Arizona off to a really poor start for 2023. Our Cardinals vs Commanders picks – Bet the Washington Commanders -7 over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders Prediction
The final score prediction for this game is the Washington Commanders 27-13 over the Arizona Cardinals. Washington runs the ball on the ground and keeps Arizona on their toes.
Barring any late additions to the NFL injury report, the Commanders run away with this one.
