Any NBA picks today involving the Spurs should be pretty favorable. One of the most unique matchups on next year’s NBA schedule, the team is set to take a leap for the first time in quite a while.
During what has been clearly the worst run of the Gregg Popovich era, the team has some serious reinforcements on the way. They are coming in the form of a 7’4 Victor Wembenyama. The player who the squad projects to take No. 1 overall in the draft tomorrow.
It is a little tough to predict his NBA player stats as he adjusts to a higher level of competition. But he is the prize for a team that has gone through a few bad campaigns in a row. Spurs future bets will be intriguing too, as they can go one of many directions with things. They have so many good young pieces who have joined recently that they could become a play-in team at the worst, within a year or two.
Let’s look at some of their props, and just how things may go during this next campaign.
Win Projection: Over/Under 32.5
The odds are as follows for the Spurs:
- Over 32.5 wins: -130.
- Under 32.5 wins: -110.
The consensus here is that they win at least 33 games, though anything can happen. With one of the most steady floor generals in the league in Tre Jones, it helps them to set the table well. They have Jeremy Sochan serving as an additional playmaker, the likes of Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson to be scorers and help out on the defensive side of the ball, too.
Trading Jakob Poeltl to Toronto in the middle of the year actually worked out perfectly for the Spurs future bets. He’s in a better situation now, while the team freed up the center position. They did get good production from Zach Collins last season, though. Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley, also first-round picks from 2022, showed some good flashes during the course of the campaign. They can be some serious contributors to success in the year that follows.
Uniting for Success
Spurs future bets are banking on these guys all meshing well together next year. With perhaps a few others joining the party in the days/weeks to come. NBA odds for San Antonio are certainly going to be better than what we saw them at in the past few seasons.
It could be a pretty safe pick to take the over on the win projection. Wembenyama can make a world of difference for their success this season. The attention he will draw and the way he can protect the paint from the three-point line will make them fun to watch. Why go to any other events in San Antonio when you can watch the French Giant doing crazy things on the basketball court? One of the coolest NBA matchups for most teams will be playing Victor and the Spurs.
A Few Other Props
If you’re feeling gutsy and want to go higher, you can get San Antonio at +185 to win at least 35 games. That is a Spurs future bet that many will be taking on. It’s a great opportunity to cash in on a team projected to take that next step. They are well-coached, and another offseason together for the other guys will only bring them closer.
After watching what the Nuggets did with their homegrown talent in the playoffs this year, perhaps there will be some inspiration for the Spurs core guys.
Should the Spurs win 40+ games and a bet was wagered, the odds jump to +600. A lot of winning will be happening here, whether it be this season, or the few that follow. They have set themselves up well to compete with the best of the best.
Winning the NBA draft lottery and in turn, bringing their old big three back as mentors will prove to be the move that helped San Antonio get their groove back. Stella, take notes.
