When looking at the college football schedule at the moment, this game has a legitimate chance of being the best of the entire week.
The BYU Cougars are coming into this one as the number 12 ranked team in the nation at 2-0 on the season, and the Oregon Ducks are currently in the top 25 at 1-1.
Both of these teams have a real opportunity of playing in a high-level Bowl game this season, so we should see an exciting matchup down in Oregon.
We’re going to have to be smart here with our BYU vs. Oregon betting analysis, so let’s start getting into this BYU football team.
BYU Cougars vs Oregon Ducks
BYU vs. Oregon Previous Scoreboards
BYU is coming off an impressive when where they were able to take down the number 17th ranked Baylor Bears, 26-20.
Their offense was the reason why they were able to win this football game as Jaren Hall, the BYU quarterback, threw for 261 yards and one touchdown.
NCAAF Schedule Hasn’t Been Nice
BYU was also able to have 366 total yards in this one. The Oregon football schedule to start the season hasn’t been kind to the squad.
They opened up the season against the number one ranked team in the entire nation in Georgia, as they got blown out in that one. They did bounce back, however, against Eastern Washington and beat them 70-14 a week ago.
BYU Cougars vs. Oregon Ducks Betting Analysis and Predictions
To make the best possible betting pick for our BYU vs. Oregon betting analysis, we’re going to have to truly dive into the college football standings in this one.
We have to recognize that Oregon came into the season as one of the top 10 teams in the entire nation and fell out of the top 25 after a disappointing loss to Georgia.
They now sit at number 25 in the nation, but it’s still something that we’re going to have to think about here.
Can Oregon Show They Belong?
What we will see this week is if Oregon is it legitimate top 25 team still or not. After what they did against the Georgia Bulldogs, are they as good as people were expecting them to be in the early part of the season?
Bo Nix at the Ducks’ Offense
They have an Auburn transfer at QB in Bo Nix running their offense, but he hasn’t necessarily played too well to start the season.
He did have a great game against the Eastern Washington Eagles, but that’s not necessarily saying too much because of the type of opponent that squad is.
He did finish that game with 277 yards and five touchdowns, but the Oregon Ducks scored 70 points, so we can’t really factor that in too much.
The Best Defense in Georgia
Against the best defense in the entire nation in Georgia, he only threw for 173 yards and also had two interceptions.
Nix showed some promise during his time at Auburn but still had many questions that he needed to answer, and those haven’t necessarily been figured out at this stage of Oregon’s season.
BYU Team Fights And Competes
This BYU Cougar team is one of the more interesting teams in the entire nation and is a big reason why we’re going to make the college football picks that we are.
When looking at the season that the squad has had, it’s easy to see why they’re currently finding success. They do plenty of things on both sides of the football at an elite level and that includes their high-level defense.
On top of what their defense has been able to do, beating Baylor at home in a double-overtime was likely the most exciting game that we’re going to see for the next few weeks.
BYU Cougars Fans
The BYU Cougars fans storm the field and it was truly an electric moment for this program. We should be able to factor in here that they’re going to build upon that success. It would just make sense after the week that they’re coming off.
This could be a great spot for them to continue dominating, or we could be worried that they’re not going to play as well after doing what they were able to do last week.
NCAAF Injury Report
No major injuries are reported on either side for this contest, but some updates could become available soon.
Cougars vs. Ducks Betting Preview
Total:
Many might be surprised by this, but the BYU Cougars are actually going to be coming into this one as an underdog at +3.5 on the spread.
Spread:
Oregon is currently sitting at -3.5, a money-line of -170, and the over/under is at 58.5. The Cougars are currently +145 on the money line.
There are some interesting betting trends that we’ve noticed throughout this pick. Oregon has won 20 straight games at Autzen Stadium.
BYU is 5-1 straight up in its past 6 road names. The Cougars are also 10-3 against the spread as a road underdog under their head coach.
Cougars vs. Ducks Betting Prediction
The best pick of the day is going to be taking BYU with the +3.5 points. After what we saw out of Oregon in week one, it would be tough to put money up for them after that showing.
They look to be a team that didn’t even belong in the top 50 in the entire nation; better yet, definitely not the top 25.
Who to Bet On?
All the BYU Cougars have shown us throughout the first two weeks of the season is that they might be back and have a legitimate program that has a chance to make some noise this season. This is our best bet for our BYU vs. Oregon betting analysis.
This one could potentially be low-scoring as well as both defenses have shown promise. On top of that, Georgia didn’t put up a good amount of points against Oregon, so this is something that we should think about. However, the bet will be BYU +3.5.
NCAAF Pick: BYU +3.5 (-110)
