Nebraska Cornhuskers at Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview (Sat)
The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Oklahoma Sooners are set to do battle on Saturday at noon. It is a rivalry renewed as the last time these teams met was in the 2010 Big 12 Championship. The Sooners come into the game 2-0 and ranked third in the country. Nebraska sits at 2-1 while Oklahoma is a perfect 2-0 to start the season.
Season Overview
Oklahoma started the year off a little shaky as they only beat Tulane 40-35. Oklahoma was ahead 37-13 at the half and could only muster three second-half points.
This was a game that was moved to Oklahoma due to the Hurricane that hit Tulane’s campus. Oklahoma took care of business in their second game of the year in a rout of Western Carolina, 76-0. The Sooners outgained Western Carolina 624-178 in total yards.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Overview
Nebraska lost their opening game of the year to Illinois, but since then, they have blown out two easy opponents. They have beat Fordham 52-7 and Buffalo 28-3 the last few weeks.
The Cornhuskers have been on fire offensively the last few weeks averaging 275 rushing yards through those two games as well as 300 yards passing. The difficulty was much higher when they faced Illinois, and again, the difficulty will be raised extremely high in this game.
Oklahoma Sooners Overview
According to Sportsbooks, the Sooners are favored by 22.5 points and the over/under is set at 61.5 points. With how well Oklahoma has been executing you can see how Oklahoma should be able to easily cover.
But it’s a rivalry game so anything can happen. The over/under is a bit trickier as the Sooners showed a lot of holes in their game against Tulane but have since been very good. I think the play would be to take the over and hammer Nebraska as they will come to play.
This game has all the makings of a blowout, but the Huskies should be able to keep it within three touchdowns. If they do, it is highly likely that we will see a shootout, and the game will easily eclipse the over.
Odds & Predictions
The moneyline is set at -1800 for the Sooners and +1000 for the Cornhuskers. I think that is a bit light for both teams, so the best money here will be put on Nebraska, but just one unit. Nebraska shouldn’t win this but if Oklahoma plays like they did against Tulane, they have a good shot to win.
Nebraska is 2-1 against the moneyline this year while Oklahoma is 2-0. Nebraska is 2-1 against the spread as well, and Oklahoma is just 1-1 against the spread this season. Oklahoma has blown out the over/under twice, and Nebraska is 1-1-1 against the over/under.
These teams both will come out ready to play this weekend, and with quarterbacks like Adrian Martinez and Spencer Rattler behind center, there should be a lot of points scored. Look for Nebraska to come out fast early and put some points up, but Oklahoma will pull away late as their talent wins out. I’m taking the over and putting a unit on Nebraska to cover.
