There was a running joke around the NFL for a long time that the goal of former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue was for every team to finish 8-8.
While the league has never quite reached that level of parity, it is important to keep in mind when looking at the Week 7 NFL schedule to determine the Best NFL Bets Week 7.
For example, there was little reason to expect the Pittsburgh Steelers, even at home, to beat Tampa Bay last week.
But Tom Brady went to Robert Kraft’s wedding and ended up playing like a guy who wasn’t prepared. Betting on the NFL is a wild ride from week to week, and it is difficult.

New York Giants
Offense
From a macro perspective, there are a lot of ugly things about the Giants’ offense. NFL team stats show in terms of passing yards, New York is second to last in the league by throwing for 154.3 yards per game.
The New York Giants have balanced that out with an excellent running game led by a resurgent running back, Saquon Barkley.
Defense
New York’s defense is still a work in progress. The Giants have only forced five turnovers during their 5-1 start and are 28th in the league against the run.
New York has held its opponents under 20 points per game and is one of the biggest surprises in the league.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Offense
When looking at the Week 7 NFL standings, it’s hard not to notice the Jaguars sliding down the AFC South list.
While it was anticipated to be a tough season for Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ 2-1 start gave the fans hope. Jacksonville has now lost three straight.
The Jaguars have struggled to protect the ball on offense, turning it over five times.
Defense
The Jaguars’ defense has been solid so far. Best bets NFL Week 7 show Jacksonville is in the top 10 defensively in rushing yards allowed and points scored.
NFL Pick: Giants +3 (-105)

Indianapolis Colts
Offense
The Indianapolis Colts are patiently waiting for the return of Jonathan Taylor and Naheim Hines. With both running backs out the past few weeks, Indianapolis’ offense has sent toward the bottom of the league in rushing.
However improbable, the Colts have won two in a row to stay in the AFC South race. Quarterback Matt Ryan led Indianapolis to a season-high 34 points last week.
Defense
Best NFL Bets Week 7 show that the Colts’ defense has been a major factor in the team staying in the playoff race. Indianapolis is in the top 10 in total yards and passing yards.
Tennessee Titans
Offense
The Tennessee Titans had a bye to sit out for a week and reflect on the things they had done early in the season. One thing Tennessee already knew was that quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s performance had been lagging. The veteran quarterback has struggled with turnovers and accuracy.
Defense
Other than against the run, Tennessee’s defense has been underwhelming as well. The Titans allow the most yards per game against the pass and are in the bottom half of the league in points allowed.
NFL Pick: Titans -3 (-105)

Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers
Matchup Information

Kansas City
Offense
The Kansas City Chiefs‘ offense is excellent as quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been adjusting to life without Tyreek Hill by spreading the ball around a number of different receivers.
Last week, JuJu Smith-Schuster made a number of plays after struggling to start the year. Kansas City could use some more help getting the running game going, as that’s been inconsistent.
Defense
Kansas City is built around the ability to stop the run. The Chiefs are one of four teams to allow less than 100 yards on the ground per game. The ability to stop the run will be tested against Kyle Shannahan’s firmly established run game.
San Francisco 49ers
Offense
The San Francisco 49ers’ offense has had a difficult time staying consistent this season. Jimmy Garoppolo still has San Francisco in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West, but there seems to be a big decline in quality across the board in the division. With a weakened George Kittle struggling, the 49ers need to find more options.
Defense
San Francisco’s defense is 20th in the league in turnovers but has been excellent otherwise. The 49ers are No. 1 in terms of total yards allowed and are second-best in passing yards, rushing yards, and points allowed.
NFL Pick: Chiefs -3 (-110)
NFL Stats and Standings
- The Giants are 5-1, while the Jaguars are 2-4.
- The Titans are 3-2, while the Colts are 3-2-1.
- The Chiefs are 4-2, while the 49ers are 3-3.

Most Remarkable Player for Each Matchup
Daniel Jones
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is trending to go under the passing total in most of New York’s games this season.
As long as Barkley stays healthy, New York is likely to feed its feature back. The Giants attempted 27 passes last week, which Jones turned into 173 yards and two touchdowns while allowing Barkley to carry the ball 22 times.
Matt Ryan
Will a win over the Jaguars jump-start Matt Ryan? Hard to tell with the Colts’ veteran quarterback. However, if Indianapolis still is missing key players at running back, it’s worth betting on Ryan to go over the passing total vs. a team that has struggled through the air.
Betting under Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s rushing total seems prudent at this point. Kansas City isn’t committed to having a No.1 back at this point.
Edwards-Helaire
Edwards-Helaire only got nine carries against Buffalo last week and saw some carries taken away by Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco.
Kansas City seems determined to feed the hot hand, and there’s no guarantee it will be Edwards-Helaire.
