Los Angeles Rams Preview: Drinking From the Golden Kupp
Wide receiver Cooper Kupp has been playing incredibly well this season and should lock up All-Pro honors. Kupp has 122 receptions on 164 targets for 1,625 yards (13.3 yards per catch) with 14 receiving touchdowns. He’s on pace to beat the NFL single-season receiving yards record of 1,964, set by Calvin Johnson in 2012.
In his last game against Seattle, Kupp finished with nine catches on 13 targets for 136 yards (15.1 yards per reception) with a pair of touchdown grabs. Minnesota’s defense has allowed 252.1 passing yards per game this season, fourth-most in the league. Last time Kupp faced the Vikings defense in 2018, he hauled in nine receptions for 162 yards and two scores.
The Rams’ defense has been stout as well, allowing 21.6 points per game, the 12th-fewest in the league. Against Seattle, Los Angeles gave up 10 points on 214 total yards of offense (134 passing, 80 rushing). Seattle managed to go 3-of-11 on third down attempts and failed to convert their singular fourth down try. The Seahawks struggled to make a big play as the team averaged four yards per play.
Minnesota Vikings Preview: Double J
Trying to keep pace with Kupp, wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been a machine for the Minnesota Vikings so far as he has recorded 89 catches on 137 targets for 1,335 yards (15 yards per reception) with nine receiving touchdowns as well as five rushing attempts for 10 yards (two yards per carry).
In his last game against Chicago, Jefferson had four receptions on 10 targets for 47 yards (11.8 yards per catch) with a touchdown. The Vikings were without Adam Thielen who was out with an ankle injury in that one. Thielen was a limited participant in practice this week.
The Vikings may also be without star running back Dalvin Cook, who is in COVID-19 protocol. Cook ranks third in the league in rushing yards with 1,067 and six touchdowns.
Who to Bet on Rams at Vikings
The Rams are a three-point road favorite in this one. The difference in these teams are simple: the recent play of the quarterbacks. Kirk Cousins has four touchdowns and three interceptions in his last two games while Matthew Stafford has eight touchdowns to a single interception in his last three games.
Take Los Angeles to win and cover.
