Following a franchise-best regular season, the Boston Bruins (6-0-0) were expected to slide down the NHL standings this season after losing David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron, yet we’re almost into November, and the team is off to its best-ever start and looks like one of the early season NHL picks to make the playoffs. They have a chance to improve to 7-0 when they face the Anaheim Ducks (2-4-0) on Thursday.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Boston Bruins Betting Analysis
Boston has had a relatively easy NHL schedule through the first six games of the season, but they’ve earned their wins and played extremely well with contributions from all players. David Pastrnak leads the team in NHL player stats with eight points, while four others – Brad Marchand, James van Riemsdyk, Charlie Coyle, and 19-year-old rookie Matt Poitras – each have at least four points.
It’s worth noting for Ducks vs Bruins picks & parlays that the Bruins have allowed just 1.17 goals per game, first among all NHL teams. They’re 5-1 against the spread (ATS), and the over has hit in only one of their six games this season.
Anaheim, meanwhile, is coming off a 3-2 overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The Anaheim Ducks schedule has been a little tougher than Boston’s, with NHL games against the Stars and Coyotes, among other teams, to start the season. They also lost 3-1 to the Bruins this past Sunday.
Anaheim is 4-2 ATS, and the over has also hit only once in six Ducks games. Frank Vatrano leads the team in scoring with six points (five goals, one assist). Trevor Zegras, who signed a three-year, $17.25 million contract extension in the off-season, has just one point this season and was benched in the Ducks win over Columbus, playing a season-low 12:26.
Betting Picks
While it’s tough to bet against Boston right now, they have to lose eventually, and there’s a good chance it happens against a weaker team.
This game has all the feels of a trap game in that regard. Boston may still win, but Anaheim should keep it interesting, which is why the Ducks puck line is a smart play.
Also, Zegras has plenty to prove after signing that extension in the off-season and should be particularly motivated after being benched in Tuesday’s game. Barring any late additions to the NHL injury report, Pastrnak’s anytime goal is also a solid bet, considering he has three goals in two home games this season.
- Pick: Bet on Ducks +1.5 & David Pastrnak anytime goal (-155)
