The unique 2022-23 English Premier League campaign makes a return after the international break, and the title race in England’s top tier is all set to be a thrilling one.
Arsenal leads the way, seven points above current champions Manchester City. Due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, 2023 will be busy for all 20 Premier League clubs.
We have only had 15 matchdays, so well over half of the season still needs to be played within the space of just five months.
The Gunners may be in pole position to win their first title since 2004, but the likes of Man City, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to pounce on any mistakes. Who will win the 2022-23 Premier League title?
The Story so Far
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has been the surprise package thus far in the premier league recap, dropping just five points from 14 matches.
Man City are their closest challenger right now, though they slipped five points behind the Gunners before the break.
Liverpool has been a title contender for years, but they have had a poor season so far. The Reds, who were runners-up last term, are already 15 points behind the Gunners, according to EPL stats. Chelsea has also had a disappointing campaign.
Big-spending Newcastle has evolved even quicker than anticipated. Eddie Howe is doing a fine job with the Magpies, as United has suffered just one defeat all season.
Tottenham and Man United are also in the hunt, though both are outsiders. Spurs have accumulated 29 points and sit fourth, with the Red Devils a position and three points behind.
The Title Contenders
Arsenal
Before a ball was kicked this season, Arsenal’s ultimate ambition was securing UEFA Champions League soccer for next year.
However, after making such an incredible start, the Gunners fans are dreaming of seeing their side secure a first title since the Arsene Wenger glory days of 2004.
Arteta’s men have been a joy to watch this season on the EPL schedule, winning 12 of 14 matches. They have suffered just one league defeat and shipped only 11 goals.
Arsenal is priced at around +250 to top the lot and get their hands on the trophy.
Manchester City
Manchester City are the reigning champions, and Pep Guardiola’s troops know exactly what it takes to win the Premier League trophy.
Alongside Liverpool, City has dominated English soccer in recent years, but Pep’s boys have played second fiddle to Arsenal so far.
After a shock loss to Brentford at the Etihad Stadium before the World Cup break, the Gunners extended their lead at the summit.
However, the champions remain the favorites to retain their crown, with the bookies offering just -250.
Newcastle United
Along with Arsenal, Newcastle United has been the Premier League’s surprise package this season.
Many fanatics and pundits alike tipped the Magpies to have a solid season, but not many would have had them down as Premier League title contenders.
United must be taken seriously, though, as only Liverpool has managed to beat Howe’s boys this season.
Newcastle resumes their league campaign in third place, seven points adrift of the leaders. They are available at +3300 to win their first-ever Premier League title.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur started well, but inconsistency has been a real problem of late. Spurs travel to Brentford in their first game back, having won two and lost three of their past five matches.
Tottenham is certainly outsiders in the title battle (+6600), but Antonio Conte is as experienced as they come, and the Lilywhites could be ones to watch out for in 2023 if they can put a run together.
Manchester United
Man United is undergoing a season of transition under new boss Erik ten Hag. They recovered well from a dreadful start, losing just one Premier League game since early October.
However, finishing in the top four is surely the best they can hope for this time around.
United finds themselves in the fifth position at present. The Red Devils have won eight, drawn two, and lost four of their opening 14 matches.
They are 11 points behind rivals Arsenal but are four points clear of Liverpool. For those feeling brave enough to back them, Man United is priced at +6600 to finish top.
Liverpool
Liverpool has been the most disappointing side so far. They were Premier League and European runners-up and won both domestic cup competitions last term, but the Reds have been well off the pace this season.
Fifteen points seem way too many to claw back, but Liverpool is available at shorter soccer odds (+3300) than Tottenham and Man United and are level with Newcastle at +3300. The first priority for Jurgen Klopp’s men is breaking back into the top four.
English Premier League Odds and Prediction
So far, the premier league recap has been fun. It will be fascinating to see if Arsenal can keep up their relentless form in the second half of the season.
They have been exceptional so far, hardly putting a foot wrong after 14 matches. Man City are hot on their heels, though, waiting to capitalize on any slip-ups from Arteta’s Gunners.
The champions are more than capable of clawing back the five-point deficit with 24 games still to play and room to climb in the EPL standings.
Arsenal has been excellent up to now, but we fancy Man City to kick on in the second half of the campaign and retain their Premier League crown (-250).
Also, check out City to finish top and Arsenal to take second in a straight forecast at la premier league odds of -120.
