UFC Betting Specials
Keep your eye out for specials at your sportsbook that allow you to bet on whether or not historic moments will happen in the UFC this year.
You will most likely see lines that you can bet on for an athlete breaking the win record in a single year (5), or even if a specific fighter will become champion at the end of the year. These bets are fun because they are long shots, but you can earn a huge payout if you hit them.
Current UFC Champions Going Into 2024
The UFC has multiple current champions who were not expected to be in that spot at the beginning of 2023.
Guys like Alexandre Pantoja beat Brandon Moreno and then dominantly defended his title against Brandon Royval in the flyweight division. Or even Sean O’Malley was coming off a win against Petr Yan at the end of 2022, with a lot of MMA fans believing he will never be able to beat Aljo Sterling.
In the women’s divisions, we saw the end of a historic reign for Amanda Nunes, and a new star was born in Alexa Grasso–with perfect timing as the UFC is going to be flourishing in Mexico in 2024 with events and a new UFC PI facility opening up.
Out of all the previous UFC fights of 2023, the most surprising has to be Sean Strickland putting on a masterful performance and beating Israel Adesanya in his own part of the world. Strickland will now be defending his belt in the first PPV event of this year.
Champs like Leon Edwards and Islam Makhachev seem like they can reign for years to come, but will we see another surprise champion by the end of this year?
Fights to Look For in 2024
There are so many upcoming UFC fights you can bet on and look forward to watching this year. Make sure you keep an eye out for UFC 2024 betting specials at your sportsbook and take this information into account for who and what you bet on to start the year.
The first PPV event is in Canada with Sean Strickland defending his middleweight belt against Dricus Du Plessis. This is a very interesting matchup because Du Plessis is the superior athlete, but he shares the mindset of enjoying “the man dance” in the octagon with Strickland.
That will start the year off with a bang and have the potential to set up two massive fights in the future against Israel Adesanya, or another rising star in that division.
Another fight to watch is in February when Alexander Volkanovski meets potentially his biggest test outside of Holloway and Makhachev. A young, hungry, and dangerous Ilia Topuria is looking to knock off one of the most dominant champions we have ever seen.
Then the following month is UFC 299 in Miami with Sean O’Malley in a grudge match against Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera. This is a rematch of their 2020 bout when Vera beat O’Malley via TKO after the current champion suffered drop-foot following an unlucky kick to the perineal nerve in the first round.
That bantamweight title fight in Miami ties directly to the featherweight bout at UFC 298. If Topuria shocks the world and upsets Volkanovski, you can expect O’Malley to take his opportunity after a win over Vera and go for double-champ status at featherweight against Topuria.
Way-Too-Early Predictions for 2024
If you can find UFC 2024 betting specials on any UFC betting website or sportsbooks, these are a few to look for and bet on.
There are reports that Conor McGregor will return this year during International Fight Week and fight Michael Chandler in the main event at 185 lbs if he has any say in that. Since Conor McGregor is such a massive star, you can expect to see future betting lines for that bout.
The UFC odds will be close, maybe even favoring Chandler, but this is the time when you can earn all of your money back from losing it betting on McGregor in his last two fights. This is a tough matchup for Chandler against a crafty and dangerous guy like McGregor coming back with a vengeance.
Chandler will look to put on a show for the fans and it will turn into a boxing match in the octagon between the two–McGregor wins that boxing match 9 out of 10 times. Bet on McGregor while the line is good and oddsmakers don’t see how sharp the Irishman will look closer to fight week.
