The UFC is returning this weekend after taking a rare weekend off for Memorial Day. Any time there is a fight night, there is always a good opportunity to put together a UFC parlay. There are several fights this weekend that holds value when it comes to betting. While this card isn’t lined with current stars, there are several fun stylistic matchups on the card.
Here’s a look at a few fights worth putting together for a parlay.
Jim Miller (+148) vs. Jared Gordon
Gordon has had a difficult last couple of fights during his UFC career. This next UFC fight for Gordon comes only a month-and-a-half after he had a fight against Bobby Green ended in a no-contest due to a clash of heads. In Gordon’s previous fight, he lost a controversial decision to Paddy Pimblett.
Miller, who has a 35-17 record, has won three of his past four fights, including two by knockout. Typically a submission specialist, Miller has finished 19 fights via submission this season. Gordon has a solid 19-6 record in his career, but this seems like a quick turnaround for a man that just suffered head trauma. This is a good spot to add a veteran underdog in a UFC parlay.
Gordon is desperately searching for a victory to grab his 20th win as a professional but may struggle to keep up after returning too soon from the headbutt.
Andrei Arlovksi (+118) vs. Don’Tale Mayes
Mayes has had a poor recent run in the UFC. He lost his last fight in a decision against veteran fighter Augusto Sakai and lost the win before that by split decision. Mayes’ power hasn’t translated to the UFC level, as he has a 3-3 (one no-contest) record in the UFC with two knockouts since coming on board.
Anyone making UFC picks will see that Mays is 9-5 in his career with five knockouts. Andrei Arlovski is a wonder of the UFC. The former heavyweight champion is still going strong at 44 years old. Arlovski has a 34-21 record and has won six of his past eight fights. At this point in Arlovski’s career, his power has long left him.
Arlovski isn’t a bad option to take at plus money in a fight like to go to a decision. Mayes, who is 31, likely needs to start picking up wins to give his UFC career some momentum. However, Mayes hasn’t yet shown that he can take on fighters that are more experienced than him.
Jinh Yu Frey vs. Elise Reed (-129)
Reed needs to figure out a way to get back into the win column. When it comes to UFC odds, this matchup shows that each fighter could use some confidence. Each is coming off a fight where they got finished. Reed was submitted last time out and has a 6-3 record in the UFC.
When it comes to picking a UFC parlay, this matchup is one that will rely on either fighter being sharper when it comes to striking. Frey relies primarily on her standup and is unlikely to try and take things to the mat. Despite being a good striker, Frey suffered a knockout the last time out and lost to Polyana Viana in 47 seconds. Reed has wrestled a little bit in her UFC career but also feels comfortable on her feet.
Frey only averages .61 takedown attempts per fight but defends them at an 88 percent average. Reed has finished 100 percent of her takedown attempts but only averages .84 per fight. If Reed is able to mix things up, she should grind out a decision over Frey.
