On Saturday, August 13, a live crowd event is back on the UFC schedule. In San Diego, California there will be a Fight Night event headlined by Marlon Vera and Dominick Cruz.
There are a lot of interesting matchups set to take place, and I have a nice parlay pick to get an easy win for you this weekend.
Both fights are on the preliminary card this Saturday. Osbourne (11-4) will be taking on Tyson Nam (20-12-1) in the flyweight division, and Bruno Silva (22-7) will be fighting Gerald Meerschaert (34-15) in the middleweight division.
Ode Osbourne vs. Tyson Nam
Ode Osbourne Analysis
Osbourne is a Jamaican flyweight fighter that fights out of Milwaukee. He is a very long, athletic flyweight and likes to use his length to strike at range to go along with his solid wrestling skills.
He has won 2 fights in a row, including a spectacular KO victory in 1 minute the last time he was in the octagon.
Look for Osbourne to show why he is the betting favorite, according to MMA odds, with his superior athleticism compared to Tyson Nam.
What Osbourne Can Bring to the Fight?
He will look to strike Nam from the outside and if Nam tries closing distance, I believe that Osbourne will have a pretty easy time scoring takedowns in those exchanges.
Tyson Nam Analysis
Nam is the older fighter at 38 years old, and he probably knows this might be his last chance to keep a job in the UFC.
He has lost 3 out of 5 UFC fights in his career and will need to put on a great performance to prove he belongs. This might be the biggest advantage that Nam has over Osbourne… he is fighting for his life.
I believe we are going to see Nam take risks and will close the distance on Osbourne and try landing his big overhead right hand to hurt Osbourne.
What Nam Can Bring to the Fight?
I believe that he will bring the fight, but I can also see him not being able to pull the trigger on the longer, more dangerous Osbourne and lose a decision.
UFC Pick: Osbourne to win (-250)
Bruno Silva vs. Gerald Meerschaert
Bruno Silva Analysis
Silva is a legit UFC prospect that has a lot of experience fighting tough guys. He was on a 7-fight winning streak before dropping a decision loss to Alex Pereira, who is now fighting for a title, in his last appearance in the octagon in March.
Silva has been a killer in the last few years. It really has looked like he found a new stride in his MMA career and wants to take people’s heads off.
What Silva Can Bring to the Fight?
He fought a competitive fight against one of the most dangerous strikers that the UFC has ever seen in Pereira, who just knocked out a top 5 guy in the division.
Look for Silva to show why UFC odds have him as such a big favorite against a veteran of the UFC. He will be too much to handle for Meerschaert and will finish the fight with a flurry up against the fence, most likely.
Gerald Meerschaert Analysis
Meerschaert has been in the UFC since 2016, with over 30 wins in his MMA career. The way he has won fights in the third round with submission and the number of people he has seen in the octagon, surely gives him an advantage with experience in the cage on Saturday night.
I have a feeling this fight will most likely resemble his matchup with Chimaev back in 2020. I think that the strength and pressure of Bruno Silva is going to be very hard for Meerschaert to handle early on.
What Meerschaert Can Bring to the Fight?
If he can survive the first round, then the fight starts going in his favor ever so slightly and it opens opportunities for Silva to make a mistake.
Meerschaert has made a career from capitalizing on people’s mistakes and getting wins out of it. UFC picks are tough to make when the underdog is as experienced and battle tested as someone like Meerschaert, but you need to look at styles because styles make fights.
Pick: Bruno Silva to win (-270)
UFC Parlay Pick
- Ode Osbourne to win -250
- Bruno Silva to win -270
UFC Pick: Two-Legged Parlay (-109)
