We are a little under halfway through the 2022 Tour de France Femmes, and we are beginning to weed out the contenders and the pretenders from one another.
Stage 3 was a distance of 133.6 kilometers with a hilly terrain for the first time in the event, so the cyclists were dealing with an entirely different experience than the first two stages. Let’s dive into our Tour Femme de France 2022 betting analysis and cycling picks.
Let’s check out some of the cyclists and decide where we should be leaning now that the three full stages have been completed.
After Stage 3 Expectations
We just finished Stage 3, and it was difficult as it was a completely different terrain than the first two stages.
The cyclists went 133.6 kilometers on hilly terrain, and the top three finishers were:
- Cecile Ludwig (FDJ Suez Futuroscope)
- Marianne Vos (Team Jumbo Visma)
- Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (Team SD Work)
With the change in terrain for Stage 4 with 126 kilometers heading from Troyes to Bar-Sur-Aube, it will be interesting to see the next race on the cycling schedule.
Tour de France Femmes 2022 Betting Analysis
Marianne Vos Analysis
It seems to be Marianne Vos and then the rest of the competition as she finished second in Stage 3, and she has been inside of the top-two spots through each stage. She also has created a hefty lead as she has the lead in both the green and yellow jerseys as of this writing.
She finished Stage 3 with a time of three hours, 22 minutes, and 56 seconds and was just two seconds behind the lead for this stage. Vos also grabbed an additional 15 points from this stage.
Vos’ Advantage
Vos is creating a huge separation between her and the rest of the competition as she has a 47-point advantage between her and the second-place cyclist through three stages.
It’s almost a guarantee that she will at least figure out a way to find the podium, as she has 101 points more than the fourth-place cyclist.
Cecile Ludwig Analysis
Looking at the cycling stats, Cecile Ludwig has struggled through the first two stages on the flat surface as she was 27th and 53rd, respectively.
However, she dominated on the hilly terrain as she was able to finish first and now is 10th for both the yellow and green jerseys.
She finished with a time of three hours, 22 minutes, and 54 seconds and led the pack by a minimum of two full seconds.
Ludwig Through the First 3 Stages
Through three stages, she is currently 10th in the standings with 33 points and does not seem to be that great in terms of points as she is 69 points behind the third place to get to the podium itself.
She needs to step up in the two other hilly stages in the Tour de France as well as the mountain terrains if she wants to continue competing for a potential podium spot.
Tour de France Femmes 2022 Betting Preview
It is difficult to find actual cycling betting odds for each cyclist, so we are just going to dive into who we believe is going to win the entire Tour de France Femmes heading into Stage 4.
Tour de France Femmes 2022 Betting Prediction
Having a legend in the women’s cycling world like Marianne Vos, it is extremely difficult to expect anyone to top her throughout the event. She has finished in either first or second place in all three stages up to this point.
She has created a huge lead in terms of points and continues to place ahead of the pack where she is going to continue staying ahead for both jerseys as she has done these types of competitions before and dominated throughout them.
Who to Bet On?
I don’t believe in Cecile Ludwig to make enough of a dent in Stage 4 to remain competitive after struggling on flat terrain.
If you do not want to go with the odds-on favorite to continue her domination, it feels like we already have the podium set with Vos, Lorena Wiebes, and Lotte Kopecky finishing in the top three spots with Wiebes and Kopecky competing for second place, but this feels like the final set.
Cycling Pick: Marianne Vos
