Kansas City Royals vs. Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview
Kansas City Royals
Bobby Witt Jr., the No. 2 overall pick of the 2019 draft, is the reason fans will show up. He appeared in 150 games last season at shortstop and third and struggled defensively. He did show real potential at the plate, though, with 20-homer power as a 21-year-old, while hitting at a league-average clip overall.
With those inspiring Kansas City Royals stats, expect big improvements out of Witt this go-round in terms of MLB player stats.
Vinnie Pasquatino was another young guy last summer and gives the Royals a decent dedicated designated hitter option. Along with Salvador Perez, Kansas City might be more set at that position than most other clubs.
Cincinnati Reds
Position by position, this roster is really ho-hum. Cincy figures to be the worst in baseball at a lot of positions. In the infield, Joey Votto and Wil Myers might be the worst first-base unit in the league. Kevin Newman won’t likely be a great shortstop, and Spencer Steer is a good prospect, but struggled at the plate last year and has serious defensive questions at third.
Worth noting, the Reds are pretty banged up on the MLB injury report, which leaves their roster — which is full of holes — even barer. They’ll need a quick start from their offense and a dominating performance out of their starter to have a chance in this one.
Now, let’s look at our Reds vs Royals picks.
Kansas City Royals vs. Cincinnati Reds Betting Picks
Below are our Reds vs Royals picks. We’ll explain after that.
- Pick 1: Take the Under
- Pick 2: Take the Royals on the spread
The Royals will continue their Spring Training tear against a really lackluster Cincy crew. While the Kansas City Royals stats don’t project to be the best in the league come the regular season, the string of exhibition wins seems to be adding a good amount of momentum.
It will be worth watching what they’ll be able to do on the MLB schedule and if they can position themselves well early in the MLB standings. As for the Reds, it appears that they’ll be one of those MLB teams that won’t really get anything going again this year.
The pitching matchup between veteran Zack Greinke and young guy Hunter Greene should make this one of the more interesting MLB games on the slate today. Add those to your MLB picks today and hope that you don’t have to watch any more Cincinnati Reds games this season.
