MLB player prop betting options are available for July 12, and there is value to be had. Take a good, hard look at the MLB standings and trends before placing any wager, though prop wagers can offer quality returns.
The 2022 All-Star Game takes place a week from today, and the playoff picture has already started to round into form.
MLB betting odds reflect how teams have played in the first few months of the season, but things remain fluid in the longest season in all of the sports.
Player Props Variety
Deciding on your MLB picks against the spread can be difficult, but player prop betting markets offer a wide variety of options.
MLB stats can affect the MLB betting odds, but you can still make predictions based on recent history. Here are some of the top MLB Player Props to target for July 12.
Tuesdays are generally ripe for the picking when it comes to player props because every team in MLB is in action after typically lighter cards on Mondays. That gives the bettor a chance to be more selective with options plenty on the board.
MLB Player Props: Starting Pitchers
Our first group of recommendations will spotlight the starting pitchers as we’re projecting several hurlers to go over their posted totals for strikeouts.
In all, there are 16 games on the Tuesday card, so we have 32 starting pitchers to comb through to find an edge.
We’ve narrowed down the field to four who we believe will rack up the strikeouts during their time on the mound.
It doesn’t necessarily mean each of these starter’s teams will win the game, but that’s the beauty of the bet.
- Yankees
- Braves
- Astros
- Orioles
Could all lose, and we can still cash.
Home Run Time
There are some compelling games on the card on Tuesday, including five Interleague matchups in the final week of the first half of the regular season.
There are also five matchups that feature both teams with winning records. Does that necessarily mean more home runs? No, but again, it gives us a chance to narrow the field and pluck some value from the prop market.
Player Prop Bets Betting Prediction
Alright, let’s dive in deeper and start with the pitchers we teased above.
Gerrit Cole
- Over 7.5 K
The New York Yankees shuffled their rotation so that Cole could get an extra start before the break, and he finally has a chance to feast against an inferior lineup after going up against some stiff AL competition.
He still won his last two starts and now faces a Reds offense with a strikeout rate of 30% over the last two weeks.
Spencer Strider
- Over 6.5 K
Strider has posted double-digit strikeout numbers in three of his last five starts, including 23 over his last two, which came in only 12 innings combined.
The 23-year-old has been electric, and this is more about him than a Mets team that doesn’t whiff very often.
Luis Garcia
- Over 6.5 K
The Garcia recommendation, however, is a lot about who he’s facing. The Los Angeles Angels have fanned more than any other team in baseball and are one of only three teams in the sport to have gone down on strikes more than 800 times.
Garcia posted seven strikeouts in his most recent outing and also sent down seven in his lone outing against the Halos this year.
Adrian Sampson
- Over 3.5 K
Sampson’s number is too low to pass up. Over the last month, the Cubs’ starter has struck out 23.8% of batters faced while the Orioles are striking out 23.7% of the time, and this one should be low-scoring.
Josiah Gray Analysis
In the home run department, we’re keying in on the Seattle Mariners/Nationals game from D.C. The Nats are sending Josiah Gray to the hill, and the M’s will be looking to pounce with the long ball.
Gray has allowed the second-most homers (tied with five others) for any starter this season, and he’s given up four in his last three games alone.
Look for Eugenio Suarez (+310) and/or Julio Rodriguez (+240) to go the distance and provide a nice return.
MLB Injuries Report for Today
It’s always a good idea to look for MLB injuries when trying to bet on player props, as those injuries will dictate your betting options.
Even if a player isn’t listed on the injured list, he could still be banged up, and that will impact his performance. Most injured players will have player prop betting options removed, but it’s best to double-check.
MLB Player Props Verdict
There are a number of MLB player prop betting options to look for on Tuesday, and all of these can be found in any sportsbook. You are looking for value when making these bets, and you have to be willing to explore all options.
All of the player prop bets are going to come with different odds, and these MLB odds today will tell you how much money you can win.
For example, if you find odds listed at +145, then you are going to get a better payout than odds set at -130.
If you bet on a player prop at +145, then you can win $145 for a $100 bet. It would take a $130 bet to win $100 if you find odds at -130.
