The FireKeepers Casino 400 takes place at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). It is a two-mile D-shaped speedway located in Brooklyn, Michigan.
Michigan International Speedway Information
The track is used primarily to host NASCAR races and is known as a “sister” track to Texas World Speedway because MIS’s oval design was a direct base of TWS.
Chase Briscoe has the potential to be a playoff driver on the NASCAR circuit in this year’s season. A win or top finish at FireKeepers Casino 400 would help him get into that spot.
In March, the Indiana native won his first Cup Series win. The 27-year-old racer’s grandfather and father were also former racers.
Michigan State’s football and basketball head coaches were named co-grand marshals at the race. The LeBron James Family Foundation will also be represented on Chris Buescher’s No. 17 car.
Saturday’s Doubleheader
The NASCAR circuit visits MIS only once a year. However, the Cup Series Race and Saturday’s doubleheader featuring Xfinity Series and ARCA Series Races are now included in the MIS schedule.
The race can be traced back to 1969 when NASCAR made its Michigan debut. That year, NASCAR’s 500-mile debut at Michigan International Speedway saw the lead change 35 times.
Writer Benny Phillips said that afterward, “If NASCAR gave an Oscar for NASCAR’s most exciting race, it would win hands down.” Cale Yarborough won the race after LeeRoy Yarbrough crashed in the final lap.
Longest Title Sponsorship
One of the longest title sponsorship agreements was made for this particular race. From 1984 to 1998, Miller Brewing Company sponsored this race. 3M signed a sponsorship agreement for the race in 2006, which was for three years.
However, 3M moved its sponsorship to August after one year. LifeLock was the title sponsor of the 2008 race. However, it was removed after two years.
The race was formerly called the Banquet 400. The race was sponsored by Quicken Loans from 2012 to 2015. It was then replaced in 2016 by FireKeepers Casino.
FireKeepers Casino 400 Betting Picks
Kyle Larson Analysis
Kyle Larson has three wins and four top-five finishes at the FireKeepers Casino 400. That’s out of nine races he has participated in at MIS. It may not be the highest numbers, but he doesn’t disappoint, either.
The veteran knows the track and is ready to hit the accelerator on August 7. Larson has been working for this moment for the past few years, and his chance may have finally arrived.
Kevin Harvick Analysis
This is a difficult pick because Harvick is not as dominant as he was in 2020. He had the most wins, top-five finishes, top-10 finishes, and laps led in 2021.
He doesn’t have any wins, stage wins, top-10 finishes, or victories in 2021. Harvick would therefore be the 16th and the last driver to make it into the playoffs.
2014 Champion
The 2014 champion has won four out of five Michigan races, including three consecutive. He has five wins at the track and seven second-place finishes, so this race could be his chance to break through the playoffs.
Tyler Reddick Analysis
Tyler Reddick most recently won the Verizon 200 at Brickyard after a thrilling overtime fight against Ross Chastain. Chastain, it turned out, was under penalty for getting tricky on the first corner.
Reddick’s NASCAR Cup Series win at the 2.439-mile, 14-turn Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course was his third this month, his second in his career, and his second on a road track. He has been in great form recently and could keep his performance up with another win.
However, he has no wins racing at MIS. His best was an 18th-place finish in 2020. It’s a different year, though, and he has come a long way since then.
FireKeepers Casino 400 Betting Trends

- In three of the last six races, the winner came from the pole position
- Ford leads all manufacturers with 22 all-time wins; Chevrolet is next with 11
- Despite its second-place position, Chevrolet won three consecutive races, 2019-2021
FireKeepers Casino 400 Betting
Ryan Blaney won FireKeepers Casino 400 last year. He defeated William Byron to capture the checkered flag. This was the closest finish at Michigan International Speedway. Kurt Busch and Kyle Larson landed in the top five.
Who to Bet On?
Blaney won’t get lucky again this year. Despite his experience on the track, he’s going to miss it. Instead, the eyes should be on Larson. He has dominated this season and has routinely outpaced the competition at MIS. That includes three consecutive wins in 2016 and 2016.
In addition, Larson’s inside a Chevy, for what it’s worth. Given his strong finishes in all of his races this year, he’s ready to cap them off with another win.
NASCAR Pick: Kyle Larson (+790)
