Ohio State vs Oregon Ducks Betting Preview
It’s a pair of top 25 teams, as the Oregon Ducks are on the road to face off with the Buckeyes of Ohio State in a Saturday afternoon showdown. This contest was canceled last season due to the Covid-19 pandemic as it was supposed to be the second game of a home and home.
Both of these teams are coming off week one wins, but both in different ways. Ohio State looked shaky at times against Minnesota and will need a better overall performance to put away an opponent such as Oregon.
Oregon had all it could handle against Fresno State coming away with a touchdown win and they will be looking to show the country they are a much better team than what was put on display in that game.
Ohio State finally gets to play in front of a full crowd of their own fans for the first time since the 2019 season. This should be an electric atmosphere with high energy. Head coach Ryan Day is hopeful his team can feed off that energy and come away with a win.
Ohio State Preview:
The Buckeyes struggled against Minnesota on the defensive end and especially at containing the run. They allowed 31 points and 408 total yards to the Gophers despite coming away with a win.
Quarterback CJ Stroud should be a little better in this game despite the nerves he will still be dealing with playing in a game such as this. Stroud was 13/22 on passing for 194 yards with 4 touchdowns and one interception.
This team is led by arguably the best receiving group in the country in Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. The star duo combined for 9 catches for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Buckeyes are currently -14 point favorites in this game. This comes as a bit of surprise given how rough they looked against the Golden Gophers in the opener. The over/under is set at 64.
Oregon Ducks Preview:
The Ducks are coming off a win against the Fresno State Bulldogs 31-24. Like the Buckeyes, Oregon did not look like a top 25 team in the country at times in this game as they struggled at times to find any consistency.
Oregon received bad news as it looks like one of the best players in the country in Kayvon Thibodeaux was seen in a walking boot. This is a huge blow for the Ducks defense as this could benefit the Buckeyes passing game.
The Ducks rushing attack got it done in the week one victory as the team spread the wealth. The rushing attack led by Verdell and Dye combined for 31 carries with 138 yards and each had a score.
Quarterback Anthony Brown was 15/24 with 172 yards and 1 touchdown through the air. He had 16 carries with 56 yards and found the endzone.
The Buckeyes since 1967 currently hold a 9 game winning streak and are a lifetime (30-0) against the visiting Oregon Ducks. Despite the opening week struggles, the Buckeyes still feature the best receiving duo in the country. Oregon is missing one of the best edge rushers in the game and with history not on their side it’s hard to imagine a scenario the Buckeyes get out played here.
